DUI is driving while distracted mentally. If someone is drunk and wrecks that is a different charge. I think I have just decided to call in possible DUI's based solely on what the driver is doing. Entering the freeway at less than 55 mph, which causes potential damage to those behind them.

I guess we will have a new classification of dangerous driving, those not entering the flow of traffic at a rate of speed that allows for safe movement. If the sign says 65, don't enter at 30 while blocking everyone behind you. I may call you in as a possible drunk.

I guess this is the GradMa/GrandPa/DimWit Counter Rebellion. If you can't drive, get out of the way. Or I can call you in as a drunk.

Your reply sounds as if you have been a DUI or someone you know.
DUI's should not be ticketed they should go directly to prison for about 5 or 6 yrs to dry out and maybe learn a hard lesson.
Their vehicle should be impounded and sold at auction.

You totally change the DUI into another area of driving trying to justify that DUI's are not that bad.
It won't work with intelligent people. They are a dangerous menace of the worst kind.
Yes so are the others but their statistics are not anywhere near DUI's for accidents and murdering innocent people.

That is a bunch of bull honk all my grand parents are alcoholics and all of us kids dont even drink never been to jail and never had a dui so to say its a family diease is a lame-o's way out to take no responsibility for their actions,sorry ms.wilson no disrespect.but recovery is just a school to teach how not to get caught..........

It's something a lot of big city papers also do.
They should do more and incl all the idiots. I and many others
don't consider it as shaming we consider it as a warning on who
to look out for.

I believe there is some merot to what you believe. But let's take a look at a few issues that surround your thought: More prisoners need more guards and more prisons - Do you already pay way too much to cradle prisoners currently imprisoned?

A large percentage of these individuals are currently working and if they were imprisoned for 5 years would they be able to return to their previous employment or a job that did not require needing public assistance?

I think most will agree drunk driving needs to be dealt with differently because the current system is not working. Much of the problem relates to our individualism always believing that assistance is not needed - friends all believe everyone will be okay because of the own individualism.

If we as a society want to address drunk driving remember that it is only a few drinks within an hour for most, we need to devise a way to get from point A to point B when drinking.

Collectism is a great system I experienced in China where they took care of one another when alcohol was abused - something to consider here especially limiting drinking to meals, which would require a big chane in our society - of course, if most are like me, while eating the drinking and the activities I am interested in do not include meals.

Really? You must be some kind of perfect, holier than thou religious type that's never done anything wrong in your life that you have yet lived to regret. Or you have some narcisisstic outlook on life that lies to your ego and allows you to believe that you know the first thing about justice or how DUI offenders should be handled.
