He is a young man whom was employeed by the city of ukiah becuase of his roots here. He is however no different really from other youth whom have never really been exposed to the outside world. He has for the most part never really had employement outside Ukiah. He will be a greater asset to others if he moves on and more importantly he gain much more for himself if he does. There are lots of jobs in law enforcement throughout the country which would widen his horizons. He is a young kid really whom made a bad mistake, like so many do. He has arrested many of them for sure and he knows there is a price to pay. The loss of his job might be one of thoses costs that will make him one hell of a good cop and mentor to others. The kind of police officers Ukiah really needs.

He should be let go or resign from the ukiah police department. Move on in his life. It will be the best thing for this young mans future. He has lost respect from the community, no doubt he is upset with himself. And maybe he does not want to be a cop and would rather go a different direction . At the age of twenty few most kids are just finding there place in life. This also might be a lesson for the City Of Ukiah.

So speaking about Goss what ever happened with that case?
About this other officer, what is there to say, he should get a pink slip and hit the road.

He is a mendo sheriff. Was one of the sheriffs that was supposed to be layed off but his job was saved at the last minute. He is loved and respected by his fellow officers too this day.

Sigh,

Why do people keep calling this a 'mistake'? The mistake was hitting the car in front of him. However he consciously made a choice to leave the seen of the accident. That was no mistake it was his purposeful decision. Please call it what it is and stop minimizing it.

A bad mistake? He CHOSE to drive away! If that was me or any other normal citizen we would have been locked up! It is decisions like this that make good cops (what very few there are) look REAL BAD!

My thoughts also!!
I am shocked we haven't heard that he was fired already. And how about the fact he pleads no contest!! What an ego this LAW BREAKING LIAR has. If he is not man enough to admit he did wrong he is not man enough to be be a Policemen.

Where is the booking photo? Was he ever arrested or booked and released? If not, why not. Why are we just hearing about the case now? Why was the city police brass sitting on the information of one of their own without making it public? This is an offense where the person deserves to get fired right after the guilty plea. The crime is a moral turpitude crime. Moral turpitude is described as "conduct that is considered contrary to community standards of justice, honesty or good morals". Hit and run is this.

The UDJ incorrectly (again) reported the crime as penal code section 2002(a). The correct section and code is California VEHICLE CODE section 20002(a). Pis*s poor reporting. Does the paper employ editors?

What’s up with this article? When did the incident occur, is he still being paid by the UPD? I am so tired of the U.P.D. and there hierocracy. Time for a change! The Police in this town act as if they are above the law, treat everyday tax paying citizens like they are the common criminal and then go and committed the same violations and crimes that they ticket people for everyday!
This article needs work. It comes across as if the police are trying to hide something with the lack of details. Covering up for the boys, so to speak.
