Man dies when struck by truck in Tyrone

An elderly man on a scooter died after being struck by an oiltruck at Pennsylvania Avenue and East 11th Street in Tyrone about 10 a.m. today, reported Tyrone police Chief Joseph L. Beachem.

It wasn't just a scooter. It was battery-powered; therefore, going slowly. He was in the crosswalk, had the walk signal AND was 90% of the way across the street. The oil truck was either experiencing mechanical difficulties OR the driver just plain wasn't looking. Information hasn't been revealed as to which.
