Screw your home, Ms. Rush. The world desperately needs more retail. How will we survive without another Applebees or Starbucks? How will we make it through another day without another Bed, Bath, and Beyond? Like Mr. Nick said,''People from all over could come to this development and shop.'' Or not.
Three words for you, Mr. Guyuron..."location, location, location." You're a businessman, you know how this works. You created the demand for this lady's property, now pay the price. Like you said, "we want to be good neighbors." No eminent domain for retail development.

BINGO!

Perhaps the good doctor should review recent court actions involving Akron University and the neighboring property owners to see that throwing your weight around in the media doesn't necessarily ensure a positive result when the facts are reviewed by a jury!

I think a homeowner of 12 years will get much more sympathy than an out of town, plastic surgeon with a name that is good for 84 points in Scrabble.

stick to your guns, ms. rush. it really would be a shame if they went the eminent domain route. the good doctor is a private investor, he shouldn't be granted the arm of the state to do his bidding. if he wants it bad enough, he will pay. if not, then you stay. who looks out for the common person these days anyway?

Hey B & S:

Re-inventing more retail is NOT going to save us when that is PRECISELY what feeds the CREDIT CRISIS.

Local retail is already competing with over 100 MILLION online stores right now that don't take
GASOLINE to get to.

Bingo and Scrabble (B.S.) tell me everything there is to know about you.

An idiot in Toledo tried the same thing with Lowes a few years ago. Lowes built around him and now the guy is left with a piece of property NOBODY wants for development (too small) and a house nobody in their right mind would rent at market rate.

Don't stop the development, build around her. She will be left with a postage stamp lot that can't be sold to anyone.

Clueless, greedy fool...

And here we have, but yet another episode of David and Goliath.

{{{''One individual should not be able to stop somewhere near $100 million in investment and 1,200 new jobs in this area.''}}}}

That's the spirit. Government and private industry should always be able to walk all over the taxpayin property owner.

When will the politicians learn to not surge ahead with their ideas and plans until they have sought and gotten approval from all involved.

It certainly would look better in the news than, "damn the torpedo's, full speed ahead" mentallity they all seem to be afflicted with.

I do have to agree though, that $2 million is a tad over the top.$1.9 million is a more realistic number.((chucklin'))

As much as I'd like to side with Ms. Rush, if she plays too long she'll definitely lose. You can get more than your homes worth but don't get too greedy or you could lose everything. Be careful.

When did eminent domain apply to a mall? Good luck to you Ms. Rush hope you get what you want your house or the money. You shouldn't have to move if you don't want to. They should have made sure everyone agreed before they tore the other houses down and the homes owners were probably bullied into selling.

I hope she holds out. Twinsburg doesn't need to grow anymore. Neither does Macedonia. No one is going to want to live there in 5-10 years because they are losing their charm. Growth is killing northern Summit. It's only a matter of time before it's an extension of Cuyahoga County, with all of its problems included.

Aside from that, why is there more talk of eminent domain when it comes to a commercial project? If this breast-augmenter wants her to move, he should put up the cash.

Begin to build around her while negotiating. I'm sure an agreement can be reached. 2 million is maybe high...but it is her right to not sell if she chooses not to.

''The project is going to go forward, whether she cooperates or not,'' developer Dr. Bahman Guyuron said.''We — the township, city and community —
have invested enormous amounts of resources and time and energy and years of hard work.
And what about the hard work, time and energy she has put into keeping her home up and Paying the mortgage? Oh thats right, You were talking about the 'You' part of 'WE', Not the 'Her'
part of 'WE'.

"Guyuron, a plastic surgeon with a practice in Lyndhurst, said he has ''made a very, very generous offer — almost four times what her house is worth by any kind of estimate.''

The appraised value, according to county property records, is $84,480.

''She's not saying she doesn't want to sell,'' Guyuron said.''She is just asking for a price that is totally unreasonable.''

That price apparently is about $2 million.

Guyuron declined to name the amount, although he confirmed it was in the $2 million range.

Rush has said she will sell when God tells her to, Guyuron said. She also has told him that she felt he treated her neighbors unfairly."

The woman won't respond to governmental officials trying to resolve the issue, won't accept nearly 4 times what the house is appraised for and is waiting for "god" to tell her something. She is just another greedy loser trying to win the lottery.

Anybody sticking up for this nutcase needs some serious introspection. I hope the developers wrap her property with a parking lot and the bright lights that go along with it. It would serve her right.

Dr. Guyuron may not be wholly familiar with the law and the tradition of our nation that says, quite clearly, that one individual MAY be able to stop somewhere near $100 million in investment and 1,200 new jobs in this area. Fight on Ms. Rush. Fight on.

If the good doctor wants/needs her property, pay her for it, or build around her property. The homeowner has rights too. I am sure she has a lawyer, so this doctor needs to be careful.
