Also this is not a race issue. I hate the KKK and Nazi's, I also hate ghettobraggingrights which is just as vicious and disgusting as the nazi's and kkk. The trial needs to play out and what ever happens is what is meant to happen. As far as the comment about rubbing fecal material on ashfords grave I think i got a little to carried away in anger after some idoits praising Ashford as a hero. Even in the event Ashford would be acquited there are no hero's in this story that are going to be walking away from it all. We have the justice system for a reason, we'll just have to see how this plays out and not pass judgement.

Chandler, I understand your feelings of anger. I too have seen the site you are referring to and find myself completely enraged by the reference to Thompson as a "hero" simply because he was black or that Officer Miktarian "had it coming" simply because he was a police officer who happened to be white. Anyone who knew and loved Josh, please don't go looking for this site. It's hateful message has no place in your memories of him.
It has been a month since Josh's murder and we're still left in limbo. I was in Twinsburg 2 weeks ago (I know, when I lived there, I avoided Twins Day. This year I felt I had to go). You could feel the mixed feelings in the air. The community was still morning his passing, while at the same time, trying to move on and celebrate Twins Days. The site of Bagio as Honorary Grand Marshall was somber and from what I hear, he's taking it just has hard as everyone else.
I'm finding it healing to visit the memorial websites that have been set up for Josh. Myspace currently has 2 of them and both of them focus on his life and the impact he had on those around them. I highly recommend looking at the pictures on each site. Very moving....

I believe Ashford Thompson is a beautiful King. I love him for allowing God to use him. No matter what hate is thrown his way, there remains still alot of love for him no matter what the outcome God has for him. Its not up to the judge, prosecutor, Mrs. Miktarian on what will happen to King Thompson, its all in the hands of God and his will, will be done.

Who are you to say he needs to be punished? Stop trying to take God's job. You should never fall into gossip or what the "media" puts out there about people they know nothing about. First of all to clarify a few things...the Crown Vic Miktarian was in was not new, it was one of the oldest in the fleet with 90,000 miles and the rest of the department are driving brand new Dodge Chargers. The video system in the Chargers is a DVD format that records everything...Miktarian's was a VHS format that was not working. When the officer was found his gun was still in his holster -- before assuming this officer was another bad apple why not wait for the facts to come out. Both of the surviving parties involved in that night made crystal clear videotaped statements which leave little doubt to the facts involving the officers murder. The problem is that people start assuming for one reason or another that once again because the cop was white he must have been a racist. This doesnt further anyones agenda and merely makes it look like certain parts of our society are high fiving one another cause a white cop is dead. All of these facts have been in the news and will come out in the trial. Before U end up looking real stupid wait til u see the evidence and videotapes that the court does have. Then start typing hate. The trial starts in January which is right around the corner.

Can anyone tell me what the latest news is on Mr. Thompson. There has been no info that I can find where he is and what are they planning on doing with him. By that I mean is there going to be a trial.

Grammie25, the trial has been postponed until April so that the defense can have more time to prepare. The prosecution has allowed him to hire $15,000 (of state money mind you) worth of "experts" to help in his defense. I say, let him hire anyone HE can afford to help in his defense. Don't make the law-abiding citizens of the state of Ohio pay for everything.

You can go to the Summit County Clerk of Courts website to follow everything more closely. Go under the "Records Search" and conduct a search for the trial by Ashford Thompson's name or by criminal case # CR-2008-07-2390. Searching under "Dockets" will give you access to all the paperwork that has been filed in the case, the most recent will be shown first. This is all a matter of public record and is updated daily so there is usually no more than a 24-48 hour lag in information.

Let me ask you, did you know him? Because we did, very well and for a very long time. He was not a racist. Did you know that his God son was black? Josh was a fine man. Always dreamed of being an officer. He was gentle and kind and would never harass a person. In fact many citizens of Twinsburg would tell you that he often let them go with just a warning. He is being judged because of what? He had a tatoo like millions of other people. What because he shaved his head like millions of other balding men? Josh had a huge heart. He loved his wife and daughter with all his heart and soul. He was respected by his fellow officers, family and friends. He was a respected officer a smart business man and a fine musician. He didn't deserve one shot to the head, let alone three more at close range. Like the first one wouldn't have been enough for Mr. Thompson to make his get away? Mr. Thompson murdered him execution style, then ran away like a coward. He got caught in the process of trying to remove his cuffs. A decent man would have called 911 and said "I need help, an officer is down". Then he would have waited for help and explained his side of the story. He deserves the death penalty. He committed cold blooded murder. He left a young woman a widow and a baby without a father. No excuses he will ever give will sway anyone any different.

You should be a reporter. You have all the facts down as if you were there-thanks for putting a smile on my face. You said to get the facts before I start writing hate and sweetheart if you read my comment, I said nothing hateful towards anyone. I said the truth as far as God allowing all things to happen and my opinion on how I felt about the case as I am entitled to and even in my opinion I showed no hate. Things havent been going to well for Ashford in court. It seems that his attorneys are resigned to merely try and save him from a death sentence. Alot of the statements he made after his arrest have come back to haunt him. None of his supression hearings even went forward which is bad for Thompson. It appears that his defense team has nothing to work with. The prosecution appears to have a very strong case. I find it amazing that all of the rumours of police wrongdoing are nowhere to be found--probably do to the fact that Thompson himself denied any---U can find all this out through the Summit County court docket and area news sources. I predict a short trial and even shorter sentencing.

The officer's patrol car was outdated, not new, and since he was soon to get a new patrol car like most of the other officers, they didn't see the need in spending all the money for a new dashcam for an old patrol car. The officer's soon to be new patrol car would have had the new equipment in it. There is no need for a coverup - it's a horrible thing thompson did and he will pay.
