I am one of those cilantro-haters. It has a soapy, metallic, dirty-sweat sock taste and smell, and if I accidentally get some of it, it causes my tongue and lips to tingle, as in an alleregic reaction.

I've visted Chipotle exactly once - where I found out their main ingredient is "cilantro rice." I was treated like an illegitimate red-headed step-child when I asked for cilantro-free rice, they ensured I'd never visit any one of their stores again.

As the article states, cilantro is the most overused and abused so-called herb out there. It's showing up everywhere, in food that it never used to be in before. The quantity used in a single dish in many cases shows the ignorance of the "chef" because instead of a seasoning, they've turned cilantro into a main flavor.

I simply tell kitchens that I'm allergic to cilantro at this point when I need it kept out of a dish. I just wish it would stop showing up EVERYWHERE.
