Hmmm, Ed Gilbert must have been on vacation. I'm sure he would be chompin' on the bit to defend this young man.

A very strong case , But a very bad record in court , ask Cindy , somehow I do believe that if tried it will get screwed up , and your record of plea deals is outstanding just for a conviction for your record , suggesting a change of venue may be the way to go , possibly to Iraq , the justice system there seems to work looking at Sadams case , tried and executed very quickly

Just needle him up and get it over with. Thompson deserves to die for what he did to Officer Josh, and the family members who helped him try and get away should get life in prison as well.

Shari Walsh is a disgrace. First, she parades her oversized political lecturn to the press conference she calls in Twinsburg a few days ago.

Now, knowing she couldn't try this case herself if her life depended on it, she reads the indictment instead of a courtroom prosecutor who knows what he/she is doing. Who helped her with the big words?

For her to make this a public spectacle to further her political career is disgraceful and pathetic.

If I was a member of Josh's family, I'd ask her to stay out of the way and let a real prosecutor handle this so Walsh can go back to spending her days at home.

I am disgusted that neither my party nor the republicans can find a good alternative to this buffoon. Anyone even see the republican candidate? Has he/she just quit? Way to go Arshinkoff!

This is one piece of scum that I'd like to see "roll his eyes" for the last time. If there were any justice in this world, he'd have already been strangled in his jail cell.

Hey Registered Voter- you should know what you're talking about before you post your B.S. Cindy George WAS convicted by the Summit County Prosecutor's office. It was the Ninth District Court of Appeals who overturned her conviction in what was an extraordinary move. An appeals court very, very rarely overturns a trial court's verdict on the grounds that there was not sufficient evidence to support the conviction. I'll allow you to draw your own conclusions there, but you can't pin this one on the prosecutor's office. Maybe a few appellate judges were able to afford to take a nice vacation after that decision...

Is todays legal system Guilty until proven innocent these days? The father of twelve hasn't gotten any kind of rememberance, and a cop killed him. It's not right.

In most cases it is Guilty until Proven Innocent so that they can suck out all your available income and when you are left with nothing then all you have left is to just go to jail for something you didn't do.

However, this case is much different here.

I don't think even Walsh's office could cause an outright acquittal with the facts of this case. However Thompson's lawyer could argue accident or argue that it was a non-premeditated impulse shooting with no intent to kill and get a gullible jury to reduce to manslaughter. Of course that's what Mercurio Morrison is probably hoping for. Anything less than LWOP or death and Morrison could use the case to bolster her campaign, " Walsh lets cop killer escape justice, vote for Morrison!" Well hopefully justice will be fully served and not some reduced sentence just so Morrison can win the election.

Athlete, you're sooo correct. It's not right.

Whats not right is NO respect for the police. You do remember weeks ago ANOTHER athlete shooting at Akron cops dont you?

Three times recently by thugs with guns with NO RESPECT.

Again, you are right. Lots in common in these cases, none of it good.

Now tell me the truth, if that Reggie guy would have killed one of mr. stepehens family while shooting into his house, would the black community protest reggie?

I didnt think so.

Yet one more thug with a gun with no respect for even his own hood.

As far as the legal system goes, he is innocent until proven guilty and a juror would have to withold judgement.

We, however, are not required to withold judgement. The facts are clear, Ashford Thompson is a cold blooded killer. He fired at Officer Miktarian 3 times at point blank range after the officer was down. This was not the act of a "good boy." He is a murderer who is devoid of all conscience and respect for human life. This shooting had nothing to do with self defense.

An example of self defense is when a "father of 12" points a gun at police officers and they have to shoot 22 times to bring him down because he would not follow the officers commands. In this case, the officers were defending themselves from an armed man pointing a gun at them. Thank God they got to go home to their families that night.

While thinking about this story I often wonder what was going through Thompson's mind while he was firing those last three shots (execution style). But, now I think I know since he was rolling his eyes while listening to the charges against him. He couldn't have cared less then and he doesn't care now. He should have been hanging his head in remorse but he doesn't know what remorse is since he does not have a conscience. I wonder if he will roll his eyes when he is convicted and sentenced to death? Time will tell!

I believe the FOP and Law Enforcement groups all endorse Morrisson. Sounds like we have an excellent candidate to replace what hasn't been effective since the press made Callahan a scape goat for a prositution ring 8 years ago. Justice in Summit County has been gone ever since and the idiots who voted for this woman are getting exactly what they asked for.

I just want to make a comment on several other people's comments saying the same over and over again.

You all question (and Lord I don't know why) this killers conscience and remorse didn't show up in his court/tv appearance.

This is to me a silly question....First of all if one has the ability to feel remorse, one would have had to have a conscience all along. This killer didn't have a conscience or respect for any human as he stood there and point black shot a disabled young officer 3 times in the head.

This killer is missing the part of his brain function that allows him to feel things. He does not possess the "human" part. There are actually medical terms for this but I don't know them, sciopath comes to mind.

Don't ask or question that the punk doesn't have or show remorse, his brain is incapable of doing so, good boy and all he was.....NOT

What about John "SELLOUT" SINN? Now he's a good one for getting the guilty to go free and talking the innocent ones into a plea bargin. Nice try SELLOUT but my real attorney blew the case out of the water.

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Scorpio

Don't let yourself be caught up in a crowd mentality. Just because someone else makes a major production out of what should be a simple matter, doesn't necessarily mean that it has to affect you adversely. You might be able to bring down the volume with a tap on the shoulder and a meaningful look. Even though it might not seem like it, your cool head is definitely appreciated at times like this.
