This town needs a really good bakery. All we have as far as baked goods in this town is Big M or Great American (aside from the donuts at Nice N Easy or Sunoco). Someplace that you can get fresh bread, cakes, muffins, etc. Mmmmm!!

ok so XXX does have a good point. dollar general is a very good store..i dont think a bakery would last long as most people would pay cheaper prices at local stores already here. a small walmart might work. it would bring in more jobs. maybe a drive in movie theater would be nice.. cheap clean family fun. if not a drive in a regular movie theater. something positive for the kids and family to enjoy together.

I think a drive in or theater is about the best idea I've heard. The problem with a walmart or bigger store like that is,yes it would create jobs and bring more business and people to Boonville, but it would also bring more problems with the in flow of people.

i remember way back in the 50s and 60s...there were tons of industrial jobs...foundries, tool shops, gen..electric....just outta high school i got hired by a machine shop.they trained me to run a machine read gauges etc...unions were tuff and would call strikes for too many hours....the big three auto makers were huge and made shitty cars...the auto workers struck so much that the cars were way overpriced...the uaw workers probly made as much as nuerosurgeons did for turning a bolt... american laborers made japanese goods much more attractive...nafta was the end..the good times were slowly ending.....the tuff times are just begining

Go Fish wrote: What's happening to the old Fishing Tackle place of years ago across from the Fpt. Firehouse on River St.? A new business I hope? If so, WHO? The owner is going to open another bar, but this one will have plenty of room for a band and a dance floor, with a long bar down one side.

I agree. The unions got greedy and so did the corporations. Now we're screwed! in a perfect world wrote: i remember way back in the 50s and 60s...there were tons of industrial jobs...foundries, tool shops, gen..electric....just outta high school i got hired by a machine shop.they trained me to run a machine read gauges etc...unions were tuff and would call strikes for too many hours....the big three auto makers were huge and made shitty cars...the auto workers struck so much that the cars were way overpriced...the uaw workers probly made as much as nuerosurgeons did for turning a bolt... american laborers made japanese goods much more attractive...nafta was the end..the good times were slowly ending.....the tuff times are just begining

Thats what I was thinking...and it wouldnt hurt to throw in a movie too. You'd probably go home and watch one after dinner anyway so 2 birds...1 stone.
