And you wonder why men don't marry anymore.

What happened to no debtor's prisons? How is this guy going to pay child support when he is in jail and not working? Furthermore, is it a crime now if a guy loses his job due to downsizing and doesn't have an income? Wtf, is the legal requirements of being a "deadbeat"?

If we want to arrest people for not paying debts, let's go after all those defaulting on their mortgages. Those people wrecked the entire world's economy.

I agree with dave, except on one thing you don't have to be married to make a baby.when my x husband and I split I did'nt get him for support,I took care of them myself, until I meet this amazing man,he was god sent.he took care of my children and me.we got married later and still with him today and my children are grown up with familes of their own. But my x husband pays child support on a daughter with a woman he was'nt married to.this woman got support from welfare, she told them that the father was a 18 year old from miss.and that she did'nt know where or how to find him.she kept this story from childs birth until 11 years old.back time builded way up in the 1'000's so then she tries to tell the real father to leave his wife for her or she was going to get child support from him.and she did.I think this women should have been responsible for the back time,I don't see how she got by with this,we all know this is against the law.he is disabled and elderly still paying this child support on a monthly income of 676.00 a month,he can't even eat everyday, and he is even ordered to show in court every three months just to reveiw and make sure he keeps paying.than this causes court cost.he was told the child was not his over and over by the mother in the beginning.she told me over and over the child was not his.he keeps his payments paid up to date and dhs still keep trying to put him in jail.

I agree with you.. A woman who has lied for years about the father, it is her fault! The man should in no way be responsible for the back pay...
As for Dave! only a man could make that comment! If they paid their child support, they wouldn't owe back pay! Period!!!
If they don't want to pay for their child, keep it in your pants!

Could you be anymore of an A**? I sense some major hostility. I too have an exhusband that has not done a thing for my child. I can assure you that I don't cry or wine about it. I am fully aware that I chose him, but alas we all make mistakes. I think that you might need some professional help for your hostility. May peace be with you!

I side with most moms here, my wife was young and naive when she married her ex-husband. After all the abuse and his drug use it was his child neglect that really caused their divorce. My wife and I do not have glamorous jobs, we manage to scrape by every month. This means that we can't always afford clothes for the little guy when he grows out of them and so on. We've asked the exhusband for support, he yells and screams, calls us interesting names(all in front of his own son) and calls us greedy.
All the while, he lives in his step-moms basement, rent free!!! He worked for a while, but when he was laid off, we only started to get support because the government automatically gave us money from his unemployment payments. So, he had no control over us getting support. When his payments ran out, he expressed his hapiness with us no longer receiving our support (which he didn't clue in on the fact that the money was going to his child anyways, he always wanted to keep the money to buy his son gifts whenever he saw him so his son would like him more, but we argued that clothes and food were far more important than video games and movies). It was after the gifts started coming in, that we asked where the money was coming in, he replied that he was working under the table and that there was no way the government would be able to track it, this no support. Since then be has smugly admitted to receiving welfare and working under the able so we would never receive support. He is over $5000 behind and we're in significant financial trouble. I'd love to see him learn of what he's doing to our family as well as what he's really teaching his son, that drunfs and alcohol are far more important that supporting you childs primary caregiver...lock the bastard up, we're not seeing support from him now anyways!!!

Parents and families suffering due to deadbeat supporters, good luck and keep at it!!!

I think you really need to see what really happens in these families, the men aren't always right!!! Beleive me, I've seen it for 5+ years now, it's not fun and it really hurts to bite your tongue that much.

Dead Beat Dads are refusing to take responsibility for their families...ever how they created them. Let me declare, a dead beat dad is not a man who was working, laid off, and unable to pay at the present. A Dead Beat Dad is one who simply will not work, mooches off his friends, lets his girlfriend buy his cigarettes and beer. He is a sorry A**.
