I admit I'm not much of a believer in paranormal activity. I do believe there are many things about which we know little to nothing of.

A man came by work the other day and then I talked about stuff.
I have a new hobby.
Trains are cool.'
This weird guy made me uncomfortable.
Go see this movie playing in the local theater.
If you or anyone you know has random pointless thoughts and would like them published then contact ADN. If it's random meaningless crap that is no more coherent than a drunk mental patient it will fit right in.

AHA, now I understand!

I have often wondered why so many badly written, incoherent, or just horribly incomplete articles appear in the paper. All along, I just needed to read something written by the Managing Editor to understand. He is their leader and example.

Gee, the whole Sunday newspaper is practically devoted to this screwball. Must be a pretty hard news weekend when you can't get off your ass and find a better story than the one that walks into your front door.

Show some credibility ADN! Show some REAL reporting.

I could give you a thousand topics worth of REAL news that needs to be reported in this town. But then again, that would require you and your staff to actually leave the office and do some digging to get the news.

At rack rate your "Staring at goats" pieces (both the story and the editorial) would have cost an advertiser a few thousand bucks. Was your "staring" columns worth that?

I think not.

I thought it was a pretty cool story. Beats the heck out of murder and mayhem that has been gracing our paper lately, Kudos for the momentary suspension of reality.

Yep. Topix hiccup. I posted it and waited 5 minutes and it didn't show up, so I tried again. Guess they were just as slow as the Managing Editor.

Signs say: "Whacko Dump Here"..........

What a bunch of spoiled whiners! What part of lighter side of life do you not understand?
And why don't you do some investigative work yourself to take to a reporter to follow up instead of expecting the entire world from them?
Geeez......

Because we don't get paid to do THEIR work; they do.

That rambling collection of incoherence had NOTHING to do with the lighter side of life. Maybe the lighter side of intelligence....

This article, if that's what they want to call it, is definately NOT going to help them boost circulation. Maybe they are looking for a reason to dump the paper completely.

Just as an FYI, I used to be a reporter for the ADN. My undergraduate degree is in journalism, and I worked in the business (actively) for a period of about 9 years before I switched professions.

I'm not "holier" that thou. I'm informed. I'm not only informed, but I know when to ask the tough questions. And when not to back down and let a supposed news organization sit on their backsides when there is truly news out there to report.

It is when a newspaper does this that we are all being deprived of what is truly important to the people of our area. Without demanding that true news not be ignored, we are all just saying that it's ok to ignore the news that was meant to be news.

I'm not for that.

I want responsible journalism. I want a responsible news media that works hard to get the real story.(I know that in this day of age that is difficult or rather an oxymoran.) But I want the news.

Stories like the "Staring at Goats" story belong on the lifestyle pages. Not the front page. Nor does it warrant a diatribe as an editorial to fill space. How about writing an editorial Mr. ADN Editor on what exactly our City Commission's plans are to truly address the problems in Alamogordo? How about asking "why" a town of our size can withstand additional construction growth, when there has been little to no population growth? How about a story on how the city is going to address the problems of potholes in our streets? Or better yet, why most residents of this county have such little faith in our local hospital? Why not ask why you can't go into the emergency room and see a real doctor for more than a couple of minutes?

Ask yourself why we've allowed ourselves to "not give a damn" about what should be important issues in our lives.

No, I won't let up. I won't let the Daily News' editoral staff sit on their butts when there is a job that should be done.

You might ask why I'm not up for the job anymore. So I will answer that.

I left the ADN when it became an "ok" practice to do exactly the same thing this story has done. That "ok" practice was a failure of responsibility of reporting the news.

The so-called "third estate" needs to do some work here.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Taurus

It's important that you leave yourself plenty of room to manouvres during the weeks ahead, as Mercury turns retro today, especially when it comes to making decisions and airing your opinions to the world. You need to be as flexible as possible right now, otherwise you could find that you've boxed yourself into a corner and have to do some serious back-tracking. You need to consider all points of view and not just your own.
