The overused term that just makes no sense to me is the USA was 'Built on the backs of slaves' and the reason I'm posting this ( which ill make short and sweet ) Is how does this statement have any backbone? Just answer a few questions..... 1. Because a 'slave is a slave' which meaning they have no freedom have any say so in how a country is ran? 2. Just because slaves dug a few holes does not mean any slaves had an impute on the design or placement of anything architecturally built in that time period. 3. How does picking tobacco and cotton ( which in all fairness was traded for slaves ) have anything to do with molding a country? This country was built on the minds and backs of our founding fathers not slaves.... Am I crazy or what?

Thats the reason home schoolers can't cope in the real world, their teachers were ignorant. You need to take a refresher course in history or to make it easier, google for how much slaves contributed to the wealth and health of this nation. Theres no great demand for ignorance anymore.

Figures I put down a few facts and she cant dissect them and prove me wrong. Questions my knowledge of history and brings nothing to the table of debate. If the USA was built on the backs of slaves ( God knows blacks throb off of this statement ) HOW? What did they do mentally and physically to mold this great country? fair question.

How does picking tobacco and cotton ( which in all fairness was traded for slaves ) have anything to do with molding a country? This country was built on the minds and backs of our founding fathers not slaves.... Am I crazy or what? Question 1 Response True they would not have any direct “say” in how the country was run but at that time neither did females. Simply having a say in how a country is run is not enough to build a nation. Just look at communist China. People have no say but the nation grows in many cases thrives. Just ask any American worker who job is now there. This would lend support to accurately stating the nation was built on slaves backs and we could also add women and many other ethnic groups. Question 2 Response If it were simply digging a hole perhaps there would be merit. However other tasks slaves performed would include connecting railroad track for instance and like any construction project you must overcome construction obstacles. Workers often discover these obstacles that indirectly or directly require them deal with the architect. If you have ever known or had any dealings with architects they will be the first to tell you they can design it but have no idea how to build it. It is only reasonable to assume that cooperation and collaboration between the slave and the architect would reflect in changes to the design. This too would re- enforce the statement that the nation was built in the back of slaves. Question 3 Response Tobacco and cotton were and still is a tradable commodity. The ability to bring either of those products to market depends two critical components. Those components being management (slave owner) and the workers (slaves). If either of those components is not present the business (plantation or nation) will fail. Given this is an undeniable fact is would also be factual to state the slaves had plenty to do with the molding of a nation. Summary Our founding fathers created the principles in which for us to operate a government. The actual building of the nation was left to everyone else.

Mama liked my twin brother better than me, maybe it had something do with his highlander dress outfit.

Why are you so concerned with, as you'd say "that population?" I never understood being twins in all you would take the low road. Mama wasn't a racist, but daddy was and you picked up his traits. Ok twin, i know its your life, but please do our family a favor, don't try to procreate with your domestic partner.

Take a Sunday afternoon ride through Gilpin, Wicome Court, Creighton Court, any side street of JeffDavis, Chamberland area windows up and doors locked of coarse and note just how many normal to skinny sized kids you see and how fat the grown women are. I mean BIG BIG girls. Dim mammas are eating up all the entitlement money. Hey nothing wrong there?!?!?

I'm not sure if the "country was built on the backs of slaves", or not - possibly. But, at the height of slavery there were less than 250,000 true slaves (and far more free blacks) in a country of several million. I do know, however, how that the country will be destroyed. By the ever outstretched, demanding and greedy hands of the new slaves - the democrats and their constituents.

I half heartedly agree; no one ever talks about the indentured (mostly Irish) whom were treated worse than slaves.. At least slaves were regarded as investments & had their basic needs met in most cases

I believe the term "built on the backs" means that the slaves did the manual labor, much like a horse, an ox, or a jackass did. The work they did took little intelligence, and they did not do the work on their own free will, they did it because they were told to do it. We now have sophisticated (and some not so sophisticated) machinery that does the work of slave for us. The work is done far more accurately and economically. I greatly doubt the slaves had much to do at all with correcting construction issues in the field, it is more likely that the architects worked with the white construction supervisors in correcting the issues, and they were accomplished by trial and error. Yes, the slaves did the manual labor, but a Case 580 backhoe does it far more efficiently, yet we do not celebrate the backhoe day.

This morning I went to sign my dogs up for welfare. At first the lady said, "Dogs are not eligible to draw welfare." So I explained to her that my dogs are mixed in color, unemployed, lazy, can't speak English and have no frigging clue who their Daddy's are. They expect me to feed them, provide them with housing and medical care. So she looked in her policy book to see what it takes to qualify. My dogs get their first checks Friday. Damn, this is a great country!!!
