If you live on the Eastside, and you think you might need an ambulance be sure to call an hour ahead of the time you're going to need them. If you think your house might catch on fire, be sure to call the fire dept. in plenty of time for the fire trucks to get there.
I am talking about getting to work on time and I am sure an ambulance or a fire truck would have alternate route knowing that one main drag was partially closed. You just want to bitch about being too lazy to get up earlier do so but don't make those lame excuses, you know why you have to be at work - but you don't know when you will need an ambulance or a fire truck HUGE difference.

The roads were supposed to be blocked this morning at 9:00, according to the schedules. The film crews had already blocked one lane on I-70, well before 8:00 a.m. with not a soul around to direct traffic, which came to a standstill. What's the point of having a schedule if they're not going to stick to it?

I'm sure the fire dept and ambulances can find alternate routes, but my point is that the gridlock is still going to DELAY them. In an emergency, a few minutes could be the difference between life and death...and that is what the city council, the traffic cops, the NM DOT, and the film crew need to keep in mind (which they don't).

If you don't think "smell" can be a noun then take it up the Marrium- Webster (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sme... ) to uneducated dumba$$.
Main Entry: smell
Function: noun
Date: 12th century
1 : the property of a thing that affects the olfactory organs : odor
2 a : the process, function, or power of smelling b : the sense concerned with the perception of odor
3 a : a very small amount : trace <add only a smell of garlic> b : a pervading or characteristic quality : aura <the smell of affluence, of power — Harry Hervey>
4 : an act or instance of smelling
synonyms smell, scent, odor, aroma mean the quality that makes a thing perceptible to the olfactory sense. smell implies solely the sensation without suggestion of quality or character <an odd smell permeated the room>. scent applies to the characteristic smell given off by a substance, an animal, or a plant <the scent of lilacs>. odor may imply a stronger or more readily distinguished scent or it may be equivalent to smell <a cheese with a strong odor>. aroma suggests a somewhat penetrating usually pleasant odor <the aroma of freshly ground coffee>.
No, the poster's point was that the improper use of the word smell makes them sound like a complete moron. For instance, if you were standing near BO, you would tell the person next to you "Damn, barack smells bad." or "Man, Barack sure does stink." You would never, ever say "That Barack smells" or you would sound like the imbecile you would be for saying it. The person you said it to might infer what you were trying to say, but they would tell you "Of course he smells, that what his nose is for, but I think you meant he stinks." It does not make sense, so don't do it.

Okay, enough on "smell" since it is both a noun and a verb. According to Merriam-Webster:
Main Entry: 1smell
Pronunciation:\ˈsmel\
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): smelled \ˈsmeld\ or smelt \ˈsmelt\; smell·ing
Etymology: Middle English
Date: 12th century
transitive verb 1 : to perceive the odor or scent of through stimuli affecting the olfactory nerves : get the odor or scent of with the nose
2 : to detect or become aware of as if by the sense of smell <I smell trouble>
3 : to emit the odor ofintransitive verb 1 : to exercise the sense of smell
2 a (1): to have an odor or scent (2): to have a characteristic aura or atmosphere : smack <the accounts…seemed to me to smell of truth — R. S. Bourne>; also : seem, appear <the story didn't smell right> b (1): to have an offensive odor : stink (2): to be of bad or questionable quality <all this from the moral point of view smells — A. F. Wills>
— smell·er noun
— smell a rat : to have a suspicion of something wrong
— smell blood : to sense an opponent's weakness or vulnerability
— smell the roses : to enjoy or savor life
SO ENOUGH ALREADY!!!
And as for the traffic on 70 - you were warned, so leave earlier or find an alternate route. Just be glad you don't live in a locale that handles filming constantly, like New York. You have no idea what "traffic" really is.

Las Cruces has a great new golf course that is sitting and being completely unused. We need to get a campaign going to get the brand new Las Cruces Country Club up and running. It will be the best course around, and even the bast course in the state. If money is put into to finish the clubhouse and build a road out to it, it will not only be good for the golfers, but also for the community. Since it is such a nice and wonderful course it will bring in people from all over which will bring in money to the economy.

Do not Critize Congressman Teague, as a Republican, I voted for him. I am glad he voted against Health Care and is now assisting the Veterans of America. You who critize him are probably use to living off freebees. Welfare, and other programs. Go seek for other opportunities (employment).

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Gemini

Maybe it's pre-Christmas tension but people can turn nasty in the blink of an eye today. This is especially likely if they've got a lot on their plate or they think they're very important, and you may have to treat them with kid gloves if you want to avoid getting sucked into a bad-tempered war of words. Some gentle humor may help to rescue the situation before it descends into acrimony.
