Hothead, China does not force us to shop at Wally*World, buy their cheaper made goods or sell them our Treasury bonds to bail out our government and our banks. China is about where Japan was in the late 1960's economically. Remember when made in Japan meant cheaply made goods, not the case now is it? By 2040 China's GNP will be twice that of the United States, but the average Chinese person will still make 50% of what the average American does. We need to quit blaming others and wake up. We borrowed ourselves into massive debt, both individually and as a country and we still have no comprehensive energy policy and continue to vote in people who echo what we want to hear.(In the 1970's Nixon predicte3d we would be energy independent by 1984!) It is time to take a stand, suffer the necessary hardships now and make the changes that can still be made. Otherwise in 50 years Chinese will not be an opportunity in the schools, it will be mandatory.

Having said that, I think it is great that Chinese is an taught in some of the local schools. It is done at no cost to the local district as the Chinese government is picking up the tab. I think that cmgwj@yahoo.com may be one of these teachers. I caution you that this topix board is not the best pleace to form an opinion about Bellefontaine. Most are a little bit crazy. If that is the case, and you are one of our teachers, I say welcome to America and Xie! Xie!
