i have never been to Libby, but my sister and her family live there. i thought about planning a trip to go see her this summer. i looked up your little town, and all i could find was this awful thing about WR Grace, and asbestos. is the town still safe to live in? they moved up there i guess about 3 years ago. i'm just worried about my family.

I hate to be the one to tell you the truth but Libby continues to poison the people that live there.Why in God's name people are being lied to and getting away with it because THEY also know Libby is not a safe place to raise any family.Libby IS a death town and SOMEONE HAS to tell the truth I do.Check it out yourself but do not listen to ANYONE from Libby who tells you/sells you Libby.Your whole family is in danger just as the families of Libby were told in 1999.Nothing has changed...NOTHING.

As a current resident of Libby Montana I would like to welcome all of you who have visited our town and came away with the experience of a lifetime. I also want to thank you for finding out the truth on your own. As you have found out Libby is no more dangerous that any other place. The mine has been close for 20 years now and Libby continues to get clean as time goes by. We are looking forward to being the cleanest city in America shortly.

That said - please review that past posting of Mike Crill (also known as Perry Winkle and Cupcake). It becomes clear that we have a person who is so depressed that he need to continue to post negative and misleading info about Libby. Clearly this is a person who feels completely mistreated by all of society. He must continue to hide behind a belief that in order to make his life have some meaning - he must continue to lash out to the place that he believes did him wrong instead of taking his own responsibility for bad decisions he has made in the past.

I will continue to post positive and reaffirming articles on the efforts being made in Libby to get the town and its citizens back on their feet. Mike will continue to hide behind his bitterness for his life and continue to post mis-leading and incorrect info.

I encourage you to discover Libby for yourself ... see what Montana has to offer.

Try looking on libbymt.com and you will find some nice things to do in Libby. I have lived here all my life. I'm not dead, nor do I have asbestosis. We have issues here, but unless you plan to dig, roll, remodel or otherwise disturb vermiculite and tremolite particulars you are probably just fine. It's unfortunate for Mr Crill that his family was affected to the extent that they were by tremolite exposure, but as a result his viewpoint is highly biased. People who live here care about their children and family just as much as anyone else in the world does, so assuming we are all ignorant morons who want to die and kill off our family members by living here is wrong. We aren't all liars who have something to gain from people coming here or not.

Let talk about truths then... You cant stand that Libby is still around. Regardless of ANY effort to clean and fix the issues around Libby, you cant accept the fact that things are getting better. Down in the dark part of your sole you hate that ANYONE who has ANYTHING to do with Libby is successful or happy living in this part of Gods Country. Your not a affirmative person - you depress people around you. You have very few strong interpersonal relationships with anyone,(friends). The friends you do have you are always challenging them in discussions to make sure they are on your side. You dont know who is still on your side, and who is against you. You will continue to put up the " keep your grandchildren from Libby" argument since it is emotional. It hurts you to believe that ANYONE would expose ANYONE to Libby, when in fact Libby is not the same town when you were here. Your beliefs are so ingrained that no improvement in ANYTHING (not just Libby) is an attack on your beliefs. I dont think I can tell you what to do. I do think you are seeing someone who is a professional who is trying to help. At the end of the day believe it or not there is a forest past the trees.

If Libby continues to be unsafe then why does someone like Gayla who has been vigiliant in her efforts to help victims of asbestosis remain here? Why hasn't she and every single one of her family members left the area? Or would you accuse Gayla of being a liar who "sells" libby as well? What about all the other pollutants in the air, do you worry about those or just your obession with Libby? What do you do to improve the air everyone breaths? Do you walk when you can or drive everywhere, do you smoke so that others are exposed to second hand smoke, do you try to minimize the pollutants you put in the air every day? Your post says your from Ashburn VA which is close to DC and has a huge number of people polluting the air. I've been to that area, some days you can't see for all the haze of pollution. I think I am much safer breathing the air in Libby Mt than where you are.

I do have children, born and raised in Libby, just like I was and my parents were. No, I have never smoked and I detest people who chose to expose me and risk my health because they blow their cancer causing second hand smoke into the air I breathe. I haven't heard any person on this site say that tremolite fibers aren't bad or that we don't have a serious health issue. We all know this and take precautions to minimize exposure, just like we do for other hazards that are out there in our environment. But you continue to rant and rave about everyone dropping like flies around here and that we're all morons who are trying to kill our children and suck other into certain death. For the children, Mike? Really?!? You and your hypocritical attitude and opinions make me ill.

Its truly unfortunate what had happened to Libby, the bigger misfortune is people who pose as "Asbestos experts" continue to post misleading and inflammatory statement about an issue they have no knowledge of. Mike "Asbestos expert" Crill has been posting on web sits for over 2 years and continually gets negative responses on all of his comments. He seems to be the only one who does not realize that Libby is getting cleaned up and will continue to be a stronger community. In past post you could tell that he, as a past Libby resident did not far well in Libby. I don't believe he represents the people of Libby - just someone who is bitter about a miserable life.
