Yeah, and if our previous leaders had seen this coming and had the forethought to prevent it, we wouldn't be in this terrible mess right now. If you disagree with me, please back your comments up with STATS AND DATA! Thanks

People get all horny when someone says they bought some "Calhoun Peaches". The fact is Calhoun is merely a county in Illinois that grows peaches and they stick their county name on them. Nothing more. Nothing less. Now you know the secret. There is no such thing as genus "Calhoun" for a peach.

Get you some MISSOURI peaches which are the same THING and support your own STATE for chrissake people! SHEESH!

Topix posters it is getting so back a person can't even ask about peaches. Try to control yourselves.

There are variances in peach varieties...but a peach is a peach.
However, when have you "ever" seen a Missouri peach vendor (from any Missouri County) selling peaches in Troy?
Illinois peaches are great!

You don't understand. Calhoun peaches are to Troy what oil is to Dallas.

There is just something special about a Calhoun peach, but if you've never been to Calhoun County you would not understand

If they sell Calhoun peaches in Troy, why would I drive to Calhoun County? You got something against "Show Me" peaches?

The guy who sells Calhoun peaches in front of Caseys is charging 8 dollars for a small basket with about 7-8 peaches in them....and claiming that the others are not selling calhoun peaches. You can go to Sugar Grove and get Calhoun peaches by the crate for a fraction of the cost that the Casey guy is charging...and theirs are kept in coolers. They've been selling Illinois peaches for a couple of decades now.

Got some from the Casey's stand guy. Gave me a bag and got home and they were all bruised from being smashed together in a bag for who knows how many days.

I've been buying Calhoun County peaches from the guy at Boone and Main for a few years now.
$7.50 for a 1/2 peck box. Last round we got about 24 mid-sized peaches. You still are responsible for looking them over. Anything boxed for market puts "the shiners on top" as a dear, old farmer friend showed me when I was a younger lad working his bottom garden and orchard.
