Hmmm

Sounds like a convenient time to accuse someone...right before an election. I hope people look into that deputy's past and present behavior before they pass judgement.

If it was one I would think the same thing, but with two coming forward, then you think, how many more might come forward with something. This one is going to take some critical thinking on the complete situation when voting.

Time will tell. He has not had his day in court yet.

Alleged or not, to be accused with such evidence regardless of the timing seems to reinforce that some locally elected officials lack the sense to be in such positions. A previous judge that was a drunk, a current judge that violates due process, a County Clerk pleads the fifth, a PA that can't pay taxes or a credit card bill........ Why do these people get elected?

Okay, I went back to read the article KMOV Mobile News Local sheriff accused of sexually harassing female deputy Printprint EmailEmail this article |Tweet MORE MORE!X Digg Delicious TumblrShare on Tumblr LinkedIn StumbleUpon Newsvine Reddit Pinterest by Lindsay Bramson / News 4 and KMOV.com staff KMOV.com Posted on September 14, 2012 at 4:33 PM Updated today at 8:27 PM LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo.(KMOV)– News 4 has learned the Lincoln County sheriff is accused of sexually harassing a female deputy. The victim says Mike Krigbaum, who has been with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department since 2009, inappropriately touched her during a training seminar at the Lake of the Ozarks in late June. According to the victim, that same day Krigbaum sent her numerous text messages full of inappropriate comments and suggestions. The victim has hired an attorney and is planning to file a lawsuit. A charge of harassment complaint has already been filed with the Missouri Department of Labor Industrial Relations Commission on Human Rights. The lawsuit states the sheriff’s conduct toward the victim has “become so severe and pervasive that it has made my work environment intolerably hostile and abusive.” Krigbaum hired prominent St. Louis attorney Al Watkins, who says his client is innocent of the accusations. “My client has one statement only to make within context of this, which is there has been no criminal behavior conducted by him and no unwelcome or inappropriate acts which have been conducted by him,” said Watkins. Krigbaum is currently up for re-election in November. At least one other female employee of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department has retained an attorney, claiming Sheriff Krigbaum used surveillance cameras to spy on female employees. Victim plus one other female that makes two with two different complaints.

I'm a Republican, but I question charges like this. I'm also a lawyer. A token gets you on the subway and that is all it takes to file a sexual harassment complaint. If the "event" occurred in June, I question why the complaint magically appears on the news now. Was it politically motivated? What connection does the complaining witness have to the opposing campaign? I don't have any answers. However, I am not willing to condemn the man based on accusations. I was a civil defense lawyer for 20 years. Before I run over the hill and crucify someone, I want evidence beyond someone filing a complaint. If it is true, Mike has a problem. If it is politically motivated bullshit, it is not a problem. In my experience, having defended these kinds of complaints, I am very skeptical. Let's see what evidence comes out before we attack the man. Even as a Republican, I believe that if this complaint is true, it is what it is. If false, I condemn those who bring it. As a lawyer, I will fight like hell to defend the truth. But, if you lie to me, you will lose.

Professional ethics

I find it amusing that folks in local office don't have a clue about professional ethics. If one understood their responsibility, not only to their constituents, but to themselves, it would be clear that such behavior, boyish or not, is not acceptable in a grown man. The difference is this...a true professional never puts themself in a position where there is even the slightest chance of impropriety or improper conduct. If you don't want to read about it in the paper, or you wouldn't say it to your mother, daughter, wife or child...don't do it. The fact that a person engages in such behavior shows clearly that they are not entitled to respect. Any normal person knows this...and if you don't, then I suggest a close self examination of your morals and ethics.

I assure you the MO Highway Patrol will leave no stone untouched, no stone unturned and the facts will be made public. They are a internationally accredited agency. Since a elected official has been accused the finds will be made public. Then maybe they can investigate several more local politicians. The real investigation should be focused at 201 Main Street. If the citizens want a fresh start they should start by voting Bass and Hall out! Flush the Dan Colbert Kool-Aid drinkers down the toilet. Remember the Good ole Boys will do anything to get their buddies into office. John Cottle even changed parties, do you really think he awoke one morning and realized he was a republican? No a Good ole Boy's family realized that was the only way he could get into office. Wake up LINCOLN COUNTY.

Do not try to change the focus of this discussion!! This is NOT about the co. Commissioners!! This is about Krigbaum. Keep your personal vendetta about Colbert on another thread. You have spoken your mind numerous times on that subject already. What is at issue here is the fact that a grown man, an elected official, has admitted to his attorney, as was corroborated by his attorney in the Channel 5 news report, to sending inappropriate texts to a female co-worker, to which Krigbaum's attorney characterizes this behavior to that of a seventh-grade school boy. Can Krigbaum's re-election attempt survive this?

This post is 100% right. Whether the allegation are substantiated or not, the conduct is still not acceptable. On top of this, Krigbaum was suppose to be at training, which no doubt was on the county (I.e. taxpayers) dime. Not appropriate or acceptable behavior. John it sounds l like you are the one drinking Kool-Aid..Krigbaum Kool Aid Whether you are a so called "good ol boy" or a "newby" this behavior should not be tolerated. Your repeated attempts to change the focus makes me wonder about you. If these allegations were brought forth against someone who was not your friend, you would be screaming from the highest mountain.
