Here it is! Read it and weep! Taxable sales in this county have hit a wall for the 2006-2011 years. Just read the attached article in today's P-D. Click on the attached regional sales map and see how we are getting our colletive a**** handed to us.........

Troy down 22% over that time period
Moscow Mills 36% over that time period

They have a Wal Mart now. Any town would have a considerable increase. Plus you are taxed double on tampons and there is a lot of VA-ga-gas there.

They already had a Wal-Mart.....it just was improved to a super center. Now all the sales from surrounding locations that used to come to Troy goes to BG.
And where does most of the growth in Lincoln County shop? You got it.....Wentzville. If there was a base in Troy, the sales would have grown proportionally to that growth, that is common sense. But the facts state otherwise. No denying it.....people have voted with their feet and pocketbooks.
So, the question and answer remains the same. How many more times are we going to debate this?
Where's the plan?
Do not vote for any elected official that can't respond appropriately.

Uhhh...wrong genius. Bowling Green's wal mart was built around 2 years ago and its not a super center. Before that, Pike County had a wal mart in Louisiana, which closed when B.G.'s opened. Just imagine if Troy's closed and one opened in Moscow. You would have the same increase in Moscow. I don't deny Dan is a d bag though.
I agree

The Wal-mart is a drop in the bucket. Tell me how you increase population 30+%, double the number of kids in the school district, AND DECREASE TAXABLE REVENUE?
The answer is as plain as the nose on your face.....or the "Shop Wentzville" sign you see as you travel down 61.

Let's see....last night, I needed a new ceiling fan. Where to go in Troy? No where. 15 minutes later I'm at Lowe's in Wentzville. Not only got the ceiling fan, but a few other items as well. Total spent...$80. Not one penny in Lincoln County.

Here's the bottom line.....this isn't your grand daddy's county anymore. Provide the goods and services that your customers want, when they want them, you will do fine....continue to be backward and not progressive, you get what you get which is nothing.

It is time to get rid of the "Good Ol Boy" mentality, leaders and residents who have screwed this place so badly..........
Just because you have a certain last name ENTITLES YOU TO NOTHING! It does not matter who your Grand Pappy was, we don't give a S**T!
I just read the article and OMG! Nearly EVERY community surrounding Lincoln County has either had a SIGNIFICANT increase in taxable sales or if it did go down, it was MUCH LOWER in % than this area!
Wentzville, O'Fallon and Lake St Louis are RAPING US! They are gladly accepting revenue from OUR residents shopping in those communities.
Hey, you local residents and leaders that rejected the TIF and TDD in Troy! What do you have to say now? Can you still, in light of the data from the Missouri Dept of Revenue, defend these decisions? You and your "Old Timer" sycophants OWE this community both an explanation AND apology!
For the EXACT time frame covered by the sales numbers, 2006-2011, you have had the same incompetent individual as your Rep in Jefferson City! The taxable sales numbers have PLUMETTED and during his term he has done NOTHING to improve the situation!
Come on "Good Ol Boys!" Debate the facts or deny them! My guess is you won't!

What the "leadership" of this county, past and present, has committed is nothing short of criminal negligence upon the taxpayer.

It's not about abortion or guns or livestock shows is it? Neither is it about who is in the white house, or who is a conservative or liberal whatever that means.

Wake up people, take responsibility for yourself, get educated on the issues with fact and verifiable sources and stop listening to the kooks on either edge..including the local fruitcake Robertson from Hawk Point.

Time to step up.

Whatever became of that million $ contract awarded to Flynn without bids? I guess nothing, I say milk the town dry. As long as my welfare holds I'm good...I will can and will submit a hugely inflated bid and do spotty work for the town....just to get off welfare.

Like all LC leaders I shop Wentzville. I enjoy the country living but I do not care for the local LC hoosier trash shopping choices. It does not matter if any of you agree with me. I work, shop, and bank outside of LC. I only live here and vote to pay as few taxes as possible. I honestly do not care about the welfare of LC because LC leaders do not care. I have no respect for your schools or their pupils. I would not hire anyone that graduated from a LC school or who has lived here for generations. I simply enjoy country living and do not care what becomes of the local losers. You tards are on your own and beyond that I have no dog in any of your local fights. Do what you wish, it is your life......not mine.

I take pride in spending my money outside Lincoln County. We've invested over $750,000 in Kelly Hardcastle to bring new businesses into LC over the last 13 years. Anyone see any.

Although I started my rant aimed a Flynn, I was ending it at Cannon. The spotty work and inflated bid part. Sorry for the confusion, I was in no way clear. They trade work out for there taxes...don't they?

The article in the Post-Dispatch PROVES the neglect, incompetence, stupidity and ignorance of this county's past, as well as some current, leaders! Many of the citizens, who elected these boobs, are also to blame.

There is no denying or "wishing" away of the facts. Lincoln County is a poor community and getting poorer by the day!

Those of you who denied the "Spanish Lake" video and comparison to Lincoln County, what do you have to say now? Oh and by the way, take a look at the taxable sales from that area too! Hmmm

Honestly what a bunch of inept community leaders we have. The silence on the part of the "Good Ol Boys" is DEAFENING!

Do you REALLY expect a debate from this bunch of yahoos? They have neither the facts nor brains to engage in a debate about this community's future. In fact, it is their intent to stay quiet at all costs.

You see, they figure that the elderly and infirmed who support them will be unaware of what is going on around them. By keeping silent, loose lips sink ships, they hope to avoid accountability. They only have one source of info, the LCJ, and it is pretty much useless!

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Libra

Be very careful when handling financial matters today because not everything is as straightforward as it seems. For instance, someone may tell you about a fail-safe way of making money but neglect to mention all the reasons why it's totally illegal. There could also be mistakes if you're spending money, such as being short-changed or overcharged. So watch out!
