I recently discovered information about Leisure Lakes just out from Trenton MO and I thought it looked like it might be a decent place. I have never been there but my wife and I have been wanting to relocate to a place that is not expensive but has great fishing and water front property without a big price tag.

I have found that sometimes it is easier to get the best information by having a discussion with people who are local to a place and knows what it is like.

Can anyone share any information regarding Leisure lakes and how friendly or not friendly it is from both residents and or the Association?

Would it be a good place for an older couple without a lot of money that likes fishing and a quiet life to retire to?

Any information both positive and negative will be appreciated.

Peace
:)

I can look into some information. My parents are in Chillicothe and I know people in Trenton. When I was little, one of my dad's cousins lived out there. I thought her house was sooo cool.

Leisure Lake in my opinion is trashy! A lot of meth freaks, users and cooks in the area.

Unless you are into the drug scene then find a better place to take your wife. Just my opinion.

We have a lake front property at Leisure Lake. We love having our place because it is a very small lake but the fishing there has been very good. Just last week they were catching good size bass and crappies. You can do some boating as long as the motor on the boat isn't larger then 55 horse power. They have some run down cabins but the association is really doing a good job getting it cleaned up. But overall the its a pretty laid back place and not very far from Trenton. In Trenton they have some nice shops with a nice Hyvee store,Pamida, and nice lumber yard. If you are looking for peace and quiet this would be a place to look into.Property in the area is very reasonable and you can probably buy a property for less the thirty thousand. I hope this has helped you.

For those of you who are making the comment about the drugees and drinkers they are all over and they probably live right next to you. Besides we have had alot of the those types of people move out or leave because the association is really trying to clean up the lake. We also have a state trooper that is living at the lake and is making sure that those type of things aren't happen at the lake. So if you really don't know or haven't been there for yourself then I think you should keep your opinions to yourself.
The lake is private and has really good fishing.

Hello, my name is Tonya I own a few lots and a home at Leisure Lake. The Lake has a lot of history, and with that in mind you are going to hear good, bad and ugly stories, just depends on who you are getting your information from and what the story teller hopes to achieve while sharing opinions, may they be true or fabricated. Here are some facts: Leisure Lake is a peaceful 44 acre lake located approximately 9 miles northwest of Trenton off State Highway 146. Leisure Lake is made up of people from all walks of life and incomes. Approximately 150 families live here year round and many families use the lake as a weekend get away or even a family vacation spot. Near by is a second 3 acre lake called little Leisure. The big 44 acre lake is commonly enjoyed by swimmers, pontoons, fishing boats, paddle boats, etc and both lakes are stocked periodically with varying types of fish such as catfish, bass, wall eye, crappie, sun perch and bluegill. "It has been to my experience that the fishing is great". After working all week long, Leisure Lake is truly a refreshing weekend retreat for me and many others.

That is a good description of Leisure Lake. It is like any where else you are. You make out of it what you want it to be. I liked it when I lived there from 1976-1991

I lived at Leisure Lake 5 years ago and it is impossible to access in the winter. There are quite a few undesirables as they feel they are out of the laws reach there. My parents still live there and struggle to pay yearly dues to the association. This is the case with most of the retired people who live there. These dues are to pay road maintenance and trash fees and other maintenance. However, improvements and maintainence rarely gets done because the association is always crying broke. So...if you buy a place there make sure you allow for assessments as they call them and they are charged per lot. If you don't pay they take you to court. No matter what your circumstances.

Sounds to me like the ones that are bad mouthing the lake are the same ones that don't want to add anything to the lake. Leisure Lake is a very nice community with good people. Sure, it has it's negatives just as any place does. But the fishing is great, people swim and boat and have a great time. Alot has changed in the 10 years that we have been coming here. All for the better. If you want quiet and serene, and a fun place to live, then this is it.Don't judge us until you have seen the place. And I bet you will love it!!!
