This is a warning to anyone that is looking for a place to rent in Springfield Ohio. What ever you do, do not rent off a man named (Gene Barnett) he is a slumlord, liar and a thief!
I rented off this bastard and soon found out the only thing he was interested in was getting his rent. There was a lot of hidden things wrong with the duplex that I didn’t see during my pre-rent walkthrough, like a gaping hole in the roof where rain and raccoons would poor in on a regular basis. There was Animal excrement all over the attic floor. I would bring this to his attention and according to him there was always someone coming to repair the roof and trap the raccoons. This never happened!
I moved out due the fact that my belonging were being ruined and the upstairs started to smell like shit!
Long story short. This worthless son of a bitch took me to court and clamed damages that were done by the rain and a bunch of other alleged damaged that didn’t happen. He was trying to do some home improvements on my dime.
I had witnesses to the fact that the property was in better shape after I moved out than it was before I moved in. But Gene is part of the Springfield City government in some way and he used his position to threaten my witnesses into my testifying on my behalf.
I lost the case. But the happy end to this story is: he still hasn’t got a dime and never will.
He is a liar, thief, slumlord and a corrupt politician. DO NOT RENT OFF THIS MAN! He is a real piece of shit!
