It's unfortunate that the educational system in our country doesn't INFORM the public to possible disorders linked with severe obesity. Has this child ever been tested for Prader Willi Syndrome? If not, the state of South Carolina owes it to him and his mother to perform appropriate tests.

It's a heartbreaking disorder in which there's a chromosmal abnormality (#15) which causes a child to have constant feelings of hunger. Parents have to put locks and chains around refrigerators and cabinets. These children are so desperate for food that they eat out of trashcans and become violent when others attempt to prevent them from eating.

Of course, in our image-conscious society, most would prefer to believe this is just an overindulging parent. Before forming judgement as most Americans already have, check out FACTS behind this disorder: www.pwsusa.org .

Up to 80% of Prader Willi cases are never diagnosed- though they can be confirmed or dismissed upon appropriate testing.
