Responses to gas prices
I think everybody's having to change their habits. I'm just mad, mad, mad. Every place they try to drill, they find that there's oil.

The price of gas keeps going up and up. Now we see that food prices are also going up because it costs money to produce and haul food to it''s destination. Food staples like wheat, rice and corn are getting expensive and fuel costs are partly to blame for this. It''s a vicious circle. Do the gas companies really think this will not come back to bite them. As public trust of oil companies continues to diminish, they may find they could be facing a strong consumer backlash. It''s true they hold the oil and gas but we hold the dollar and remember, it ain''t called the almighty dollar for nothing. Maybe we will all be driving scooters one day but I hope not. Ted, get it through your mushy head, it's not the "oil companies" it the DEMOCRATS and their enviromental buddies who are screwing you. The oil companies WANT to drill for oil. The oil companies WANT to build refineries. Its the DEMOCRATS, their "enviornmental" activist buddies and their weasel lawyers who are screwing you.(Of course, the propaganda spewed by Associated Press and the other media outlets doesn't help. It's all designed to confuse the weak minded and recently miseducated.) Oil companies only make 8.3% profit. If the price of oil goes up, then the number of dollars making that 8.3% goes up, but it's the same profit.
The DEMOCRATS are also the ones jacking up your HEALTHCARE costs. They are raising the prices of nearly everything by mandating more involvement in your life by their buddies in the public employee unions. They keep encouraging the illegals to come and take your money in the form of "services" and other handouts. Wake up and smell the coffee, you're getting screwed by the DEMOCRATS and their "moderate" Republican buddies. |

The bottom line is, through our own fault, that we are much too dependent on oil. The gas companies in cooperation with automobile manufacturers, if you check history, promoted the primary use of gasoline through many devious schemes. That is history, we cannot change that.
We can change the future. I recently checked hybrid cars. I was amazed at how they advertise to try to convince us that their 23 mpg cars help our dependence. It is a sales joke. The Prius gets 45 to 48 miles per gallon. That alone is the mileage champion. I told the wife that the next new car will be a PRIUS. The Arab oil kings see the future and I am sure have vowed to get every last penny that they can from us before the demand for oil starts diminishing. Shame on us for not being serious about alternative fuels and economic mileage way before now. This is a critical national emergency and with our technological leadership and will, we shall overcome foreign oil eventually. |

Bob & Ted, si. Tired of Ted, no. Tired of Ted is just that, using tired excuses to point the finger at anyone but himself. Tired, your coffee is now cold and stale. Get me the screwdriver.

Re: post #2
The results of a poll on NBTV indicate otherwise. 76% of the public believe that the gas companies are fixing gas prices. 93% believe they are price gouging. 68% believe the gas companies and carmakers conspired to prolong our dependence on gas powered cars. 53% believe the gas companies and government conspired to keep the price higher than normal and sofar our new trust poll it shows that 100% of respondence DO NOT TRUST the oil companies. These are all the results up till now 12:49 pm Sunday May 18, 2008 Your welcome to view the results yourself on www.nbtv.ca |
