The story fails to mention what became of Dr and Mrs Louis T Moore. Louis would be about 97 now if he's still alive. Anyone know what happened to the Moore-s and were they the one's who sold the house to the present owner? An owner should not have the burden of protecting the home as a "treasure" per some other's view. An owner should be the one who decides to make it a "treasure" and to then record that restriction. But if this newest owner bought the property with no such restriction on a street with ordinary houses he should have the right to do as he likes with it within the present zoning. If some people want to protect the property as a "treasure" then they should be ready to pay the present owner the fair market value of that "treasure". Otherwise they would be stealing from this property owner. What happened to surgeon Dr. Louis T. Moore. Has he passed on or moved elsewhere? Does anyone know?

And which one(s) is/are better for getting out of a planetary and/or lunar gravity well? and for interplanetary trajectories? I know a bit about rocketry so I'll chime in. LREs have higher ISP. EP being the most efficient (tested), would be best for IP trajactories. SRMs are good for getting out of gravity wells. Do you still work at Goddard?

So, does the property owner get to decide he wants to put a luxury hotel in place of the Statue of Liberty, because he thinks it isn't a treasure and doesn't register as such?

If Mr. Paullin was told there was no problem in demolishing the home when it was purchased it should be honored.....however, if it wasn't in writing then there is an issue there but it still seems unfair when he is willing to bend over backwards in helping in the costs of moving the home for the preservationist society....what a gracious thing to do. Having a Frank Lloyd Wright home would be most people's dream, however, so I have a hard time eeking out a real hard core sympathy for the guy.....

Rocket scientist is just my screen name and although I have gone to med school and I am a professional student, one thing I never studied (yet) was rocket science.

It is irrelevant that he was not told in writing that he could not demolish the house because he had constuctive notice that many properties are subject to rules regarding historical preservation.

Using an extreme case to establish a general rule, Paullin did not need written notice that he could not put a hog farm on the property

Yes, EP, such as Hall Effect thrusters (deployed), are much more efficient for space based lift, hold and move (eg, IP thrusting).

ISP, units in Seconds, is rocket impulse efficiency. LRE- liquid rocket engine, such as Space Shuttle Main Engines (SSMEs) has an ISP of 452 seconds @ 104% thrust while SRMs - Solid Rocket Motor generally have less than 300 Seconds. EP- electric propulsion generally has ISP in excess of 1500 seconds! You are now a real rocket scientist, now go study the Bates, Mueller & White fundamental textbook for more insight and to become more knowledgeable.

For all of you who give a darn, the answer here lies in what "The 5th" said: "Due Process of Law"! This is "America", and this is how we make our decisions in this country.
