ALERT: If your check engine light is on in your Toyota, check for oil consumption and blue smoke, too. Often, one of the first signs of the development of engine oil sludge is the check engine light coming on. Many emissions control components are replaced prior to or right after sludge builds up.
Several other Toyota owners are speaking up about the current Toyota engine oil sludge or gel problem. Take a look at http://www.toyotaoilgel.com . Check out http://www.uc2.blogspot.com to see what owner has faced at his local Toyota dealership and more. Read the complaints on the online petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/TMC2003/petitio... . Take a look at YouTube.com under “Toyota Engine Oil Sludge” or “Toyota Oil Gel” http://www.youtube.com/watch... to see how the problem originated. Then, note the almost 3,000 signatories on the online petition “Toyota Owners Unite for Resolution: Engine Oil Sludge.” It seems that Toyota owners are complaining they have been left out of the “Customer Support Program for Engine Oil Gelation.” Still others say that Toyota has kept information about it hidden from them. Toyota owners should file owner complaints at the NHTSA and the Center for Auto Safety. They should send Toyota a certified letter to formally notify it of the problem. Then, they should ask for full repair cost coverage under the provisions of the CSP. Toyota owners can follow “toyotasludge” at Twitter.com for updates. Back in 2004, two key consumer sites went down at the same time. Toyota owners were very actively discussing Toyota engine oil sludge and Toyota’s follow through, or lack thereof, on the CSP. It was as if someone wanted those sites to be eradicated. The moderator at one of the sites admitted multiple hacking until the site went down permanently. At any rate, none of the very legitimate and informative postings from those two sites is accessible now. Convenient, huh? Charlene Blake cblake@erols.com charleneblake@cox.net |

To those searching for more on the Toyota engine oil sludge or gel matter, please see the following links:
http://www.toyotaoilgel.com http://www.petitiononline.com/TMC2003/petitio... http://www.uc2.blogspot.com http://www.autosafety.org Follow “toyotasludge” on Twitter.com Watch the Toyota Sludge video on YouTube.com at http://www.youtube.com/watch... If you have blue/white smoke from the exhaust, especially on start up; check engine light on; excess oil consumption or sudden disappearance of engine oil; failed emissions control components such as the oxygen sensor or catalytic converter; a thrown engine piston rod; or complete engine failure, then be on alert! Notify Toyota via CERTIFED letter with return receipt requested about your problem and ask for full repair coverage under Toyota’s Customer Support Program for Engine Oil Gelation. Speak up loudly online if Toyota refuses to honor this program or continues to blame you in the wake of proper vehicle maintenance. If Toyota is totally unresponsive in the wake of a failed engine due to engine oil sludge build up, consider going to the following web sites to voice your concern: http://www.ConsumerAffairs.com http://www.RipOffReport.com Regardless of the Toyota response, be sure to file online vehicle owner complaints at: http://www.autosafety.org The Center for Auto Safety http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/ The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Just to make it clear, the Toyota engine oil sludge problem…the one that has attracted so many defamers to follow me around the internet…is STILL a problem. There are many later model Toyota models showing signs of the same problem. What is worse, Toyota owners are reporting continued deception at Toyota and Toyota dealerships. Far too many Toyota owners are being told they do not qualify for the CSP repair cost coverage for one reason or another. Still other Toyota model owners who have sludged engines are being asked to pay thousands in repair costs despite proper vehicle maintenance. This is wrong! 2006 4 runner with 45,000 miles...slight ticking noise coming from engine. Took it to dealer, they told me it was sludge build up so bad that I needed a new engine for $16,000!! When I said it was under warranty they said it was not because it was from owner neglect. Told them put the car back together and give it back to me, they said it would now be impossible to put it back together. So basically they are holding my truck for ransom for $16,000...no way in hell I am paying them. Taking it to my lawyers now. And if they don't fix it, believe me the world will know who the dealer is and what they did to me. I own 41 domains with hundreds of thousands of hits per month and every single one will be my blog on how toyota and this dealer screwed me.

Please see the following web sites for more on Toyota engine oil sludge, engine failure, car fire, blown engine, thrown piston rod, etc.:
http://www.toyotasludge.com/ http://www.uc2.blogspot.com http://www.toyotaoilgel.com http://www.petitiononline.com/TMC2003/petitio... http://www.youtube.com/watch... http://www.youtube.com/watch... Join the growing crowd of sludge victims---far beyond the 1997-2002 models that Toyota claimed were affected. There are also far more than the 3,200 owner complaints Toyota acknowledged back in 2002 but will not update now! With your web experience, you can help get the word out so that other sludge victims are not similarly impacted. What Toyota can get away with, it will. The engine oil sludge matter is not an old problem but a current one in later model Toyotas as well. BTW, notify Toyota in a certified (with return response requested) letter because it won't count your complaint otherwise. This will you will give Toyota official notice of the problem. Have you had the check engine light come on before, rapid oil consumption, or blue/white smoke upon start up? Has Toyota deferred checking into the problem to buy itself time? Do fill us in and update us on your status. Charlene Blake cblake@erols.com charleneblake@cox.net Toyota Owners Unite for Resolution |

Have a 2003 camry, have had it serviced every 4,000 miles since it was new. Engin light came on, they replace gas cap. 1 week light cam back on, they replace charcoal canister. 1 week or so later engine light and oil light came back on. They replace emission converter.$1200 worth of repairs and now the car uses4 qts of oil in 4,000 miles. Did not use any vefore all this started.
I don't understand why after all this work, it now uses all this oil. It is not leaking & it does not smoke. Why does it not smoke, if it is using the oil? |

I own a 2009 Camry that is consuming about 5 quarts of oil between oil changes.
I contacted Toyota and they told me my car was out of warranty and that according to their manual 1.1 quart per every 600 miles was within spec. Now what reasonable person believes a non performance car would use that much oil, up to 8 quarts between changes? I made the dealer aware of this my last oil change and they want me to bring it back every 1000 miles to check it. They also did a compression check and inspected for leaks and said everything was normal. I have owned 3 new Toyotas and IMO their quality has been on a steady decline. The worst part about it is they won't admit to any problems and take responsibility for the problem, leaving the customer in a horrible position. |
