It was done with private funds. They can do what they want to with their money.

I feel that this was a great project, and if all us would think about how life was at the time of this school house it would be a better place.

The funds for that school were raised by the retired teachers and their families. People donated money and items for it. None of the money used for that school had anything to do with the money for the Wellness Center. A lot of the people involved in raising the money for the school would either in no way donate monsy for a Welllness Center or would do both.

You know, we old bittys have worked hard, raised our children, paid for our homes and saved for our retirement. Now we deserve to spend our money any way we see fit. A one room school is a big part of our heritage. We will also allow you to spend your money any way you see fit. Fair enough?

I agree with the previous statement. Another point the Old Bitty makes is look at what that generation has accomplished. The folks that worked on that project have always been productive, successful citizens. They have not drained our economy. They do not rely on medicade, welfare, government supplement programs or anyone else to take care of them. They have never laid out drunk all night and don't pop prescription pills to get high. They are good moral people with backbones whose beginnings in this world were modest. Maybe we should study where these kind people came from and what helped them become what they are today. For me, that one room school house is a reminder of where those folks learned to better themselves. So Old Bitty I would like to thank you and your friends for everything you have done for our community. You and your contributions are priceless.

Are we talking about the Pinkley School House ? ha ha. Remembering the article from the daughters wedding in the local paper telling how the panties came from Red boiling Springs and that the horse drawn carriage came all the way from Bugtussel. Let's not forget !

Books, pencils, paper, chalk and a multitude of other educational items could have been obtained. Please don't forget about scholarships. There are so many poor unfortunate souls in this county that need an education.

Do we really have the best interest of the poor pitiful little children? Take a good dose of your own medicine.

You people have no idea how much work the retired teacher but into this project. How much time they donated and how their whole hearts was into this project. I for one am proud for them. This was something that meant alot to them and if you want to complain about the Wellness Center not having a pool, Direct that question to the wellness board who had more than enough money to build the pool. Ask them where the money is now and what the hold up is?? Ask your school board why they dont want a pool?? Building the Wellness Center on school ground was the first mistake. As for books and supplies, again ask your school board why that isnt supplied for the classroom. Ask your school board where all the admission money from ball games go. Were did the money from the little league football and cheeleaders go? Theres money out there it just somehow slips into the general fund and the things needed are overlooked BUT DO NOT PUT DOWN THE RETIRED TEACHERS. THEY HAVE EARNED RESPECT! Some topix just really get under my skin, and this is one...

I totally agree with you...

Why is it that some ppl. always have to find the smallest things to complain about?

My youngest son went on an in-county field trip to view the one room school & I'm very happy that he & others got to see for themselves what it would have been like back in those days and how fortunate they are today.

Scholarships were lost. The money could have been used for that purpose instead of an old school building. Yes, people, read, read, read.
