Newspapers across the U.S. are printing an item about a poor <sniff, sniff> illegal alien who was arrested in Marshalltown, Iowa. The newspaper item appears to be seeking sympathy for this illegal alien who will be deported, separated from his family and who had built up some kind of good life working at SWIFT & CO.

1. The illegal alien, Francisco Vargas Costa, illegally entered the U.S. and was deported the 1st time - and illegally entered the U.S. AGAIN! THIS IS A FEDERAL CRIME!

2. Senor Costa provided illegal documents to his employer and many of these illegals stole other U.S. citizen's IDENTITIES! MORE CRIMES!

3. The article claims the illegal alien illegally entered the U.S. for financial reasons. DOES THIS MEAN WE SHOULD ALLOW OTHER CRIMES SO PEOPLE COULD SUPPORT THEIR FAMILIES? HOW ABOUT ALLOWING POOR MOTHERS OF YOUNG CHILDREN TO SELL CRACK so they could earn a decent wage?

4. The item appears to seek sympathy for the illegal alien's separation from his family. HEY, LET'S LET OUT ALL THE CRIMINALS FROM JAIL AND PRISON SO THEIR FAMILIES DON'T HAVE TO SUFFER FROM THE SEPARATION! What about our U.S. BORDER PATROL Agents who are imprisoned for a decade and separated from their families because they were over-their-heads trying to stop Mexicans from bring illegal drugs into the U.S.?

5. The item appears to opine that Marshalltown, Iowa, thrived due to illegal alien residents. STUDIES DEMONSTRATE U.S. TAX PAYERS WILL SPEND MILLIONS AND MILLIONS SUPPORTING ILLEGALS, that ILLEGALS arrive with their families and cost trillions of dollars for ESL classes, benefits, etc. Each family will cost us a million each in their lifetimes. The illegal may have bought a house but his kids need ESL, special education, welfare, food stamps, free food in school, on and on and on and on and on.

6. The item appears to seek sympathy for Mexico's poverty when Mexico is one of the richest Latin American countries in the world. MEXICO is responsible for its people - not the U.S.A. Mexican government needs to learn how to share the wealth and stop sending their most costly citizens to the U.S. for us to provide.

7. SWIFT & CO. repeatedly is hiring illegal aliens. This pork processing plant is earning BIG PROFITS while paying NOTHING for workers. How is this AMERICAN? People should STOP BUYING ANYTHING from those companies that give U.S. people a PORK JOB!

8. The illegal alien said he earned $13.25 an hour at SWIFT & CO. Swift corporation couldn't find some of the millions of U.S. workers who are unemployed???

The Statue of Liberty says GIVE ME YOUR TIRED, YOUR POOR. It doesn't say GIVE ME YOUR CRIMINALS. Millions of people arrived in the U.S.- LEGALLY. According to U.S. laws, criminals will be caught and punished. Illegal aliens are CRIMINALS. Why would U.S. newspapers advocate sympathy for criminals?

Fewer migrants mean more benefits

As immigration enforcement takes hold, jobs begin to open up to less-skilled Americans.

By Mark Krikorian
September 24, 2007
LA Times

"Immigration hawks have been on a winning streak lately. An unprecedented surge of public outrage at the prospect of amnesty for illegal immigrants led to the defeat in June of the Senate immigration bill and the probable end of President Bush's dream for comprehensive immigration reform. And that was merely the latest in a series of victories for supporters of tighter controls, including the Real ID Act of 2005, the Secure Fence Act of 2006, proliferating enforcement efforts at the state and local levels and a new package of modest but meaningful enforcement measures announced last month by the Department of Homeland Security.

What of the results? Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff told The Times that "there will be some unhappy consequences for the economy out of doing this." While the enforcement climate is still too new to show results in government data one way or the other, Chertoff's prediction doesn't appear to be playing out. On the contrary, there is extensive anecdotal evidence that enforcement is actually having its desired effects: More illegal aliens are going home, leading to improved conditions for American workers and communities.

The first consequence of stepped-up enforcement is attrition of the illegal population -- a steady decrease in the total number of illegal aliens as more people give up and go home. Attrition is the real alternative to amnesty, and we're seeing it work.

........Far from having "unhappy consequences," these developments are improving the economic bargaining power of less-skilled American workers. The Rocky Mountain News reported that in Greeley, Colo., "the line of applicants hoping to fill jobs vacated by undocumented workers taken away by immigration agents at the Swift & Co. meat-processing plant ... was out the door." New England Cable News reported that only after a raid on a plant making leather goods for the military in New Bedford, Mass., were Americans and legal immigrants able to get hired. As one new employee said of the raid: "In a way, you know, it's sad, and then in a way it's good because at least it gives people that were not employed for so many years ... a break to be able to work and support their families."

When illegal aliens were removed from a Crider Poultry plant in Stillmore, Ga., the Atlanta Journal Constitution and the Wall Street Journal documented the benefits to local workers. The plant raised wages significantly, began offering free shuttles from nearby towns and provided free rooms in a company-owned dormitory. For the first time, Crider sought applicants from the state unemployment office and began hiring probationers and men from a local homeless mission. And, as the Journal noted, "for the first time since significant numbers of Latinos began arriving in Stillmore in the late 1990s, the plant's processing lines were made up predominantly of African Americans."

1. Please provide evidence you know me or my work schedule. Otherwise, please debate the topic and stop posting personal remarks and attacks. Debating topics does NOT involve personal comments. In the future, my response will simply be "Stick to the topic."

2. The U.S.(as other countries) enacted laws. Illegal aliens are committing crimes and violating U.S. laws. Violating laws is punishable with incarceration. Many people pose excuses for committing crimes. Excuses don't absolve criminals from punishment.

3. Many criminals work. That has nothing to do with committing crimes or violating laws.

Should we allow sellers of crack cocaine to escape prison because they work???

Should we allow adults to rob banks and escape prison, because they work difficult jobs?

You don't get to pick which laws you like or which ones you want to violate.

Well I for one do some of the cleaning in the Iowa great Lakes area. Mowing yards, raking leaves ect. What is your problem with that??? I WAS BORN HERE. It is not just the illegals doing menial work. There is a place in Estherville Ia. that keeps hiring the same illegal every few weeks because he gets deported, then comes back with another name. This place should be closed down for this.

If a person & their family comes to any country without permission i.e ILLEGALLY, then they are knowingly committing a crime and taking their chances, if something happens to them, the country that they entered ILLEGALLY isn't responsible and THEY ARE OWED NOTHING,but a kick back to where they came from.

Sanctimonious rebuttals please don't bother. If you need are trying to validate or justify illegal immigration save it for the lynch mob or judge.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Gemini

You're in a very erratic mood today, making you restless, edgy and nervy. It may be almost impossible to settle to anything for long, because, as Mercury slows, you soon lose interest. If life becomes boring you'll want to liven it up in some way and it's likely you'll choose the most disruptive and controversial option you can think of, even though you know this will cause trouble.
