I fail to see what people get out of watching animals maul each other; maybe something lacking in their own masculinity? And please, don't anyone draw a parallel between these fights and boxing; the people in the boxing ring have a choice as to whether or not they want to fight; the animals don't.

He was just breeding them for a 4H project and was intending to enter them in the Orange County fair next year! Just look at his mugshot! Does that look like someone that would deliberately break our laws? Wanna bet he's an "illegal"?

What's wrong with cockfighting? Two cocks that get to fight who would have otherwise be in a stew somewhere. While at it, why not eliminate boxing, UFC, wrestling. Legalize and tax it. This ring created a lot of jobs and made a lot of money for the outstanding gambling citizens of Bithlo.

How do you know that the animals don't want to fight? Do you speak animal?

Sorry, but boxing is just as pertinent as the cock fighting. It matters not whether they choose to fight or not, it's the "spectators" that drive these sports that are the point. There are many people that still enjoy what I call "Gladiator Sports" where they want to see blood, death, and fleshly carnage! Whether it be cockfighting, dog fighting, boxing, a middle line backer or defensive end crush a running back or wide receiver, a nascar legend hitting a wall headon at 180 mph, or any other activity that people get their jollies out of experiencing. The very same adrenalin rush that the Romans got watching the lions devour the Christians in the arena! It's a primevial reflection of our inner most nature to actually enjoy watching something get thrashed to death! Watch our movies, our video games, etc. etc. We think we are above this mindset. We think we are sophisticated and civilized, yet at every turn we prove over and over again that not much has changed, we are still animalistic at our core!

Sorry but I don't enjoy any of it. And you are wrong -- people have a choice to box or participate in UFC or other wrestling/fighting sports. Animals do not. If animals naturally fight over territory/mates/etc., that is one thing. But to breed them specifically for that, to implant spurs on their feet so they can inflict more damage -- all so a few men with inferiority complexes can get their rocks off from bloody, beaten and sometimes dead chickens is just sick. There's no excuse for it.

Let's face it -- some groups of people have evolved more than others.

They cut off the rooster's talon and attach metal spurs. Not natural situation at all. They also can get away from each other in the natural world. This is humans perverting nature, again, because of betting. Stupid.

When I mentioned boxing, I meant in the context that the participants in the animal fights don't have any choice as to whether or not they want to fight, as opposed to the humans. As for violence, no not everyone DOES enjoy violence in movies, etc. I mean, I'm not opposed to it, but I don't get all hyper-excited about a violent movie; too, we know that movies are 'pretend,' and no one really gets killed. I watch a boxing match and all that I can think of is, "what a stupid way to make a living." NASCAR? Same thing, doesn't do a thing for me. Football? While players DO get hurt, I can't remember the last time a football player was carried off the field in pieces... Oh well, we all have our likes and dislikes.

Haywood - I think you have it right...these people flood to our country and bring nothing but crime , disrespect for our culture and flag and the things that were considered OK back on the island. They take our freedoms and welfare for granted , refuse to speak the common language of the land and add little or nothing to our culture. I think it's more than clear since the flood of these people from the islands out way of life has changed for the worse. Crime has escalated and you can't go anywhere with out feeling like your in a 3rd world country. I'm all for diversity , but diversity is also showing respect for the country , language and customs of the native people. I haven't seen to much of that. Why is it necessary to have a Hispanic group for everything to enhance their opportunities for jobs , welfare , education and just about everything else. We are all Americans and shouldn't be working for just one segment of our society. I'm sick of hearing about the Latino this and that. I'm also sick of hearing the Spanish language , it's rude and doesn't endear you to Americans. America for Americans ! Love it or swim home....please !!!!
Hey Gonzo,
Who do you think the audience members comprise of? I bet most of them are white rednecks. Let's all work together to make it legal. That's the only way we can ensure that we have a veterinarian and cut man at ringside. In these hard economic times, sky high gas prices, we all should welcome the extra income and entrepreneurship that seņor Ramos and his ilk are bringing to the meth-induced masses. If Ramos didn't have his cockfighting operation, only the Good Lord knows what he'd be doing. No birds have ever gone to waste. The loser gets cooked.

As I said in my previous statement that you missed entirely, it's the "Spectators" that drives these sports! Remove the spectators and there would be no business for it, the same as any sport where there is physical violence and blood-letting! Never said there was any excuse for it other than humanities infatuation with blood-letting whether it be an acceptabole past time like boxing, football, ice hockey, orunacceptable events such as cockfighting, dog fighting. The true culprit its the people that pay their money to attend these events!

I uderstand what you are saying and do fully agree with the overall content, I do not "get off" watching animals maul each other or boxers bashing each other into a bloody mass, just not my thing. but quite obviously the entertainment industry knows the likes and dislikes of humanity pretty well when you see what they present to the American public to get their box office hits and ratings. I'm not trying to say "ALL" of humanity seeks the blood-letting rush, but a great many do and that's what sells tickets, that's what brings people out to watch in excitement as the blood begins to flow. As for football players I have seen players get paralized from the next down and I have seen compound fractures and I have seen one instant death years ago when a player hit a goal post on a dead run, that was whenbthe goal posts were on the zero yard line and shaped like an "H" and not covered with cushioning! the guy hit it so hard he bounced all the way back to the 10 yard line in a dead heap! Football is still one of the "Gladiator Sports"!
