Hi HHC,
Yes, I enjoy school, but I don’t want to become a professional student 
I chose to study computer science because it offers a nice practical way to challenge the analytical part of my brain.
My writing and filmmaking endeavors will challenge the creative side of my brain 
Yes, being well organized can actually make life much simpler and save you a lot of time in the long run. It takes a little time to get organized and set up a system (filing system, space organization, electronic files organization, etc.), but once you get a system set up it’s just a matter of maintaining it.
For example if I have a certain place where I put my dirty close, then I should always put them there and not throw them on the floor or any place else they are not suppose to be. This is a simple idea, but many people fail to even maintain a simple system like putting all dirty close in one place.
The idea of a place for everything and everything in its place is what I try to adhere to.
One of the ideas that Julie Morgenstern discusses in her book is the kindergarten model.
She noticed that in most kindergarten classes there was a place for certain activities like coloring, reading, etc. Each place where a certain activity was done, you would find all of the necessary items for doing that activity.
For example, the area where coloring was done had a place for crayons and everything else that involved that activity. Julie says that we can do the same thing in our homes. For example, if you have a hobby of doing arts and crafts, you may want to have all of your arts and crafts materials in or very near where you do that activity. She offers a lot of other ideas too.
Being organized can safe us time from looking for things around the house or office because we would know right where things are. Also, we can improve from a business standpoint by being well organized. For example, as an artist if you are doing projects for several different people you could have a separate file for each client with important information about the client and the project you are working on for him or her.
Well, that’s it for now Ms. HHC,
Talk to you later.
Like, I used to be an exceptional organizer of time and space a few years ago. Now, seems I am a bit scatterbrained sometimes.:( I still have to have objects in their places and everything compartmentalized. I tend to have a place for everything. A few years back when my father died I decided to rid my life of objects or mementos that were cluttering my life. I wanted and still want to minimalize my life. Many things I have stored in a place so that when my two boys get older they can take them or give them away. Things I want to give to certain people are labeled. Things I want to give to people to treasure I have been giving to them now. The hardest part about getting organized in life, love, and relationships is going back to the same ole habits. lol

It sounds like you really have things together Like. You have a vision and are pursuing that vision. I think you should always work on staying focused or you will be a professional student. Ahhh, but, we are always students ya know. Once we close our brains off from education and learning, we because stale and frigid.

Subkitty20,

I use to love watching re-runs of “Gun Smoke.”

I think it was one of the better westerns on television.
I know it was a radio show before it was a television show.

Some of the other westerns I use to like on television were “Bonanza”,“Big Valley,” and the “Wild Wild West.”

The “Wild Wild West” was probably my favorite because it was not the typical western. It was like a hybrid of western, secrete agent, spy thriller, and action. It was also fun to watch because there were some pretty colorful and outrageous villains on that show. I would say it was a cross between a western and a James Bond type of show. It also had some elements of the old “Batman” series of the 1960’s because you did see some colorful villains on it sometimes.

I watched most of those shows as re-runs because they were a little before my time when they originally were on television. I did not want you to think I was that old :)

Although I did feel a little old when you said that you had never seen “Gun Smoke.”:)

Subkitty20,

I would like to hear more about these chat forums that you can set up on your own on yahoo.

Are you able to keep out people you don’t want? Are you able to kick out people that you previously allowed in? Is it private only to those who are allowed in?

I have a Yahoo 306° account.
By any chance is that what you are talking about, or are you talking about something different?

I appreciate you providing this information to me and our other friends.

It will be nice to have a private place we can all retreat to when we want to get away from Topix for awhile.

Like...not to be cynical, but, I don't think it will ever happen. I think people love drama, not peace. It is cool that you think that will solve the problem ,but, I am highly doubtful in this situation. There is just too much hatred and anger inside of our bodies. Just keep your positive attitude going. I was doing good, but, there are a few people that would like me to open up and be as hateful as them. We all have a choice to close the Topix off, so, I can't complain too much.:)
HHC,

I am a bit of a cynic myself when it comes to humankind having the ability to be decent, but I do think that most people can be if they want to.

Also, my desire to find a place on the internet where some of my closest cyber buddies can meet is motivated by my want to get away from some of the negativity on Topix.

We can still come back to Topix any time we want, but it would be nice to have a place to retreat to where our conversations could be a little more private and uninterrupted.

I will always keep a positive attitude, even though there are those who will work hard to make me give it up for negative behavior.

Actually, I’m not so delicate that I can’t take a few verbal hits now and then.

I know that just because I am positive does not mean the whole world is going to be.

Keeping a positive attitude does not mean we will not get angry sometimes, but it does mean that we will be better able to channel that anger into positive actions.

Also, being positive helps to give us a moral and balanced place to return to when we get off track.

I don’t let what others say control my actions anymore. I can be strong and forceful without losing my cool.

I’m very much interested in hand to hand combat and what makes a good fighter. I believe the best fighters or warriors are those who do not allow others to control their actions. It is possible for me to defeat a tougher or larger opponent by using his or her uncontrolled anger against him or her. The same can be said for verbal attacks on Topix.

HHC,

It’s funny that you should mentioned being scatterbrained. The one thing I like about Julie Morgenstern’s system of organizing is that she believes in a person creating a system that works with their own personality. In other words her system is not a “one-size-fits-all” system.

She does talk about some general concepts that would apply to anyone, but she believes in tailoring an organizational system to each individual based on their personality and how they live there life. By doing this, a person is more likely to maintain their own system because it fits their style.

I am a bit of a minimalist myself. I don’t like clutter or unnecessary material things in my life, and I like for the things I do have to be organized. However, I think its okay to allow ourselves to have some things for pleasure; things that we want but don’t need.

Also, I don’t believe in being a slave to an organizational system. To me the point in having a system is to save me time and make life easier so that I can enjoy those things that really matter like family, friends, and loved ones.

If a system is making things more complicated for me or preventing me from enjoying life’s pleasures then that system is not working and actually is defeating the purpose.

HHC,

Yes, I do have things together for myself, finally.

I do need to stay focused so that I will not get off track like I have so many times before.

You are right. We should always be students of life in some way or another or we will cease to grow. Whether in a class room or not, life is about learning and growing.

No, I will not allow this forum or any forum to still my joy or positive energy. Having positive energy does not make negative energy go away.
However it does allow us to better deal with negative people and issues.

I learn from everyone, even those who would be my foe. Actually I learn more from them than I do my friends because they provide a challenge for me in regards to how I react to them and their attacks.

Hi all.
Hope you all are having a great day.

I'll be pretty busy today because I'm taking a summer university math class, and I also start my Chinese lessons with a friend of mine from China.

Also, after work, I need to go to the gym and work out.

I will try to post some tonight or tomorrow.
Talk to you later.

Good day all.

I'm very busy working, as well as taking some university courses (math and computer), and also I’m taking Chinese lessons.

I may not post as regularly as I use to, but I will post as often as I can, and I do read what you all post every day.

I will respond to anything that is posted to me, but it may take me a day or two before I do.

Talk to you all later.

Yeah, conflict sells. Many people lose interest if there's no drama to feed off of.

I guess that's just life.

Yes. You can choose who comes in and who doesn't. You send out the invitation yourself.
Yahoo 306 degree account, I don't think that is what it is called. It's just called chat room and when you go to your yahoo messenger, you can find the 'set up a chat room' feature where it says "invite to a conference" under the 'Actions' tab. Do you have a Yahoo Messenger?

Khmer_married,

You are right about that.
Conflict does sell.

This thread is pretty peaceful so I guess it's not exciting enough for some.

I’m glad that you and Subkitty20 still stop by here though.

By the way, I have told some of my other friends on here about me being very busy lately so I will not be on Topix as often as I use to be.

I read the threads every day, and I will answer any post that are sent to me, but it may take a day or two before I do so if I don’t respond to you right away you will know why.

I keep track of my last post by keeping a Microsoft Word document file of what my last post number was. That way when I come back to this thread or Space1’s thread I will know where to start. It’s not much of a problem on this thread because there are not that many people who post here anymore, but Space1’s thread and some of the other threads I visit get a lot of post daily.

I’m taking some university courses (math and computer), and I am taking Chinese lessons from a friend of mine who is from China.

Also, I started back to working out in the gym three days a week, plus I need to start writing again (short stories, screenplays, novels).

Lastly, I am starting a project of interviewing my relatives to record the history of my family (genealogical history).

As you can see my life has become very busy in a positive way, but I do value the friendships I have developed here on Topix so I will be posting, but as I said it may take me a day or two to get back with you.

Take care.
Talk to you later.

It’s funny I’m not much of a fan of Westerns either. I use to like them a little in the past, but I was never a huge fan.

I guess some of the ones that were on television (originally and in re-runs) were just something to watch for me.

As I mentioned the “Wild Wild West” was probably my favorite because it was not a typical western, and it was kind of fun to watch.

Subkitty20,

That Yahoo chat room idea sounds like a pretty good place for friends to meet without having to deal with some of the knuckle heads on Topix.

As I mentioned before, you and our other friends could always come to Topix to post, but whenever we wanted to speak more privately we could possibly go to our chat room and talk.

Yes, I do have Yahoo Messenger, but I have not used it in a long time. I will need to see if I still have it and how to use it.

I’m not even sure if I remember my password, as I’m sure you probably need a password to get into Yahoo Messenger. I’ll check that out.

Thanks Subkitty20, and anything else that you think I need to know about the chat room please let me know.

Space1, said that she use to be on some forum or chat room in the past, and she was going to find out which one it was so that she could tell me about it. It may be the same thing you are talking about, but I’m not sure.

Talk to you later.
