Does anybody know what happened on the intersection of 183rd St. and 80th Ave. on Wednesday evening at about 4:30 pm? There was a really bad car accident and the fire department was there. The took several bodies away in ambulances really fast. The police was re-directing the traffic. Nobody could drive through the intersection.

Staff report
A Frankfort teen has been ticketed after his car ran out of control, fatally hitting a pedestrian, knocking down a stoplight, and hitting another car, Tinley Park police said today.

The pedestrian, 60-year-old Philip Rangle, of Blue Island, died of his injuries last night at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. The driver of the other car, a 27-year-old Oak Forest woman, was treated at South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest.

Rangle worked in Tinley Park and was walking to catch a train home, relatives said today. They declined to be interviewed.

Joseph Brynda, 18, was cited for improper lane usage and driving too fast for conditions after the crash, which happened about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday at 183rd Street and 80th Avenue, police said.

Witnesses told police Brynda was southbound on 80th Avenue in a 2008 Saturn when his car left the roadway and hit Rangle, who was walking on the west side of 80th Avenue. Brynda's car then hit the stoplight on the northwest corner of the intersection before colliding with a 2002 Dodge stopped on 183rd Street waiting to turn northbound on 80th Avenue, police said.

Rangle was initially taken to St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields, then transferred to Loyola. He was pronounced dead about 10:30 p.m., police said.

I came upon the accident after it happened. This morning the stoplight was still laying on the ground on the northwest corner. This evening it was gone. This is very tragice. I feel so bad for everybody involved.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Gemini

Maybe it's pre-Christmas tension but people can turn nasty in the blink of an eye today. This is especially likely if they've got a lot on their plate or they think they're very important, and you may have to treat them with kid gloves if you want to avoid getting sucked into a bad-tempered war of words. Some gentle humor may help to rescue the situation before it descends into acrimony.
