If you want to find drugs and illegals, that's the place to go. Talk about a hell hole.
Chaparral is known as a gateway/hideout for illegals before distributed throughout the U.S. Oh yeah, and lets not forget Iraqis. I wonder where the follow up story for this is? Hmmmmmmmm http://www.abqjournal.com/abqnews/index.php... But not to worry, because as EVERYONE knows they can't be terrorists, they only come in from Canada. Right? |

6:20am -- Are Iraqis Sneaking Into U.S. Through N.M.? By Bruce Daniels Wednesday, 18 July 2007 00:21 ABC News: FBI intelligence report says human smuggling ring is based in Chaparral. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating an alleged human smuggling operation based in the southern New Mexico community of Chaparral that agents say is bringing "Iraqis and other Middle Eastern" people from Mexico across the Rio Grande and into the United States, according to an ABC News report on El Paso ABC affiliate KVIA. An FBI intelligence report distributed by the Joint Terrorism Task Force in Washington, D.C., was obtained by "The Blotter," a blog on ABCNews.com , saying the illegal ring had been smuggling Iraqis across the border for more than a year, KVIA reported. The organization used to smuggle Mexicans across the border but found it was more lucrative to bring Iraqis and other Middle Easterners into the U.S. at $20,000 to $25,000 apiece, according to the FBI report. Once across the border, the report said, "unidentified individuals would then transport them to train stations in El Paso, Texas, or Belen, New Mexico," the FBI document said. Border Patrol officials in the region said they were unaware of the specifics of the FBI report, according to ABC News. And federal prosecutors in New Mexico told ABCNews.com they had no current cases involving the illegal smuggling of Iraqis, according to KVIA. |
