My wife is very ill and need very good care. She was seing Doctor Schenk and the same Doctor without any reason terminate her as a patient. WITHOUT any reason. Is Doctor Schenk complitly out of touch with his patient? Is Doctor Schenk forget the Oath he toke at the end of his medical formation. Behind a jovial figure, Doctor Shenk represent the wrong side of the medicine. He live alone a very sick patient, my wife, witout any second thought. I don't know the degree of knoweldge of Doctor Schenk, but is careless and inhumane attitude make me wounder about him.
Of course I can documente everyting I says. I will comunicate Doctor Shenk comportment to the State of Maine agency who toke care of this kind of scandalous attitude.

Apparently the Maine Health Management Coalition Pathways to Excellence people don't use his services. I have to say that after reading Mr. Skira's comments I can say that I have had a similar experience. I had been seeing Dr. Schenk for about a year and a half for monitoring of various medical maintenance issues blood pressure, weight, pre-diabetes etc. and found him to be adequate for my medical needs and convenient from where I was working though less then satisfying as a person and his “bedside manner" was not exactly world class, if you know what I mean.
Then there is the office staff, which is horrendous and the receptionist in particular who is difficult and seems to portray a sense that you are bothering her. Apparently she is not happy with her place and takes it out on those she comes in contact with. Any time that you request something above the bare minimum, the doctor and his staff make you feel as if your request is a real pain. Well as we all know in this day and age the insurance companies want you to jump through hoops, so this means that we the patient, get caught in the big squeeze between a doctor and his staff that don't want to do their jobs and the insurance companies that don't want to pay.
Then the straw that broke the camels back occurred. I late 2007 or early 2009 my insurance had assured me that they would pay a claim which had initially been denied due to clerical issues during a change of plans. I had not been in to see the doctor for about eight months subsequent to this clerical issue occurring, so when I walked in the office that morning and started to update my records with the aforementioned receptionist and was told that I owed the practice $200 + or - and that I needed to pay, I was needless to say surprised. I asked what the bill was owed for and could only be told that I owed and had to pay. After explaining that I would not pay unless I knew what I was paying for, imagine that, I was finally showed what she called a bill which showed a date of service, services rendered, but no itemized charge amounts and a balance due.
I advised her that I would check with my insurance and wife and would be happy to pay once I understood what my obligations were. Keep in mind that this is occurring while I am standing at the front window of the waiting room so that everyone can hear this Nazi receptionist accuse me of being a DEAD BEAT! Though these were not the words used, they most certainly were the intent she was conveying.
This ultimately led to Dr. Schenk becoming involved and rather than him lending some level of sanity to this whole event, he informs me that it is best if we terminate our professional relationship.
I agree with him and ultimately resolve the issue with my insurance company, and guess what Dr. Schenk office owed me $172! Imagine that and will wonders never cease.

This whole saga leads me to where I am now, pounding out this scathing review on my computer, with my head ringing, skin crawling and feeling generally unpleasant because I am experiencing withdrawals from a prescription medication that Dr. Schenk prescribed for me and I have been unable to get refilled due Dr. Schenk's refusal to write a new prescription for me and the earliest appointment I was able to get to see a new physician being in late March. I am told by Dr. Schenk’s office that this is due to the fact that I have been terminated from the practice – sound like Mr. Skira’s situation - and that he is no longer my physician.
So here I sit in withdrawals from a prescription medication and in an overall state that I'd rather not be in due to a physician that apparently has forgotten is oath.
Oh, what's that I just heard…. it must be Hypocrites rolling over in his grave.

I too have been the victim of Doctor Schenk and the non-professional standards of his office staff. Last Summer my doctor of seven years died in a tragic rafting accident and his practice was purchased by Maine General who has been unable to secure a permanent doctor for the practice. I am 50 yrs old and have a very complicated health history. The short description: 3 separate cancers over last 20 yrs with the last one diagnosed one year ago, a torn colon, severed wrist, burst appendix, nerve damage, and 17 significant operations. I heard Dr. Schenk was accepting new patients so I made an appointment. The office called me repeatedly during the month between 1st contact and the day of the appointment. First they admonished me to change my PCP on my insurance card and latter threatened they would not take me until their Doctors name appeared on my Aetna insurance card. I have a premium plan via my full-time employer and am in excellent standing. But they repeatedly called. I had put the change in early but told my insurance carrier not to switch over until the the week before my appointment. They never sent any information asking about my actual health nor did they ask I send over doctor records. On one call they did ask if I was taking any medications and admonishing I needed to bring in everything I take on the first visit. I briefly mentioned I was taking a thyroid med and I said I wou ld bring everything (including vitamins they said)on the first visit.
Then, the day of my appointment, the very rude staff woman called me informing me they had lost all trust in me and told me not to come into their office. They had accessed my last hospital records, a blocked interstinal tract, without my knowledge or consent. I had never signed anything allowing his intrusion. The small-minded staff woman said I had not told them every medication I was taking and therefore could not be trusted. First, no one ever demanded I list every medication I was taking over the phone...... they asked a yes or no question and said to bring it all on the first visit. Second, I told them I prefer to deal with the doctor face to face and not through a staff person via a telephone. Again, she insulted my honesty and integrity. If you were ever curious what people involved in the Spanish Inquisition were like just take a visit to Dr. Schenk's office. Everyone I know would standup and vouch for my character, I work fulltime, and am going to school full time with 4.o marks. I suspect it is my Hispanic name as she said they don't deal with my kind. This Doctor and his staff are prejudiced and hateful people. If you care about your health and your loved ones health DO NOT GO to this vile office. Also, be fore warned they ignore the HIPPA laws.

As I am reading the comments by other victims of Dr. Schenk's Calloused, insensitive, cold, cruel and Heartless "doctoring" I am comforted that I am not alone in my experience with his office.
However, my heart goes out to all of you as you were just reaching out for someone to care and offer you help, to no avail with Eric Schenk and his staff.
Perhaps Osteopathic doctors don't have to take the Hippocratic Oath? There is no way this evil, mean and angry guy pledged to offer warmth, sympathy and understanding to patients. He also rewards his staff for carrying out his cruel heartless style. He needs to change professions to an occupation that does not permit him to work with others. Clearly, he lacks the skills required to do his job. It's obvious he is overcompensating for his insecurities (not to mention, his stature).
I was in his waiting room at his office recently when a lady who was very ill and needed care arrived and waited behind 3 other guests at the receptionists window. This woman waited at least 10 minutes and when she got to the window, she was told that she was 10 minutes late and that they would have to reschedule her appointment. Dr. Schenk came out with ah patient, never ackowleding her and she tried to say hello, he never even looked at her. No questions, no empathy for this poor, sick woman, they just turned her away, even though this was their fault. I am sure had she gotten in front of the line to announce that she was there, Dr. Schenk would have come out and dismissed her for arguing with the receptist.
The worst part is that this inhumane treatment of patients is rewarded by Dr. Schenk being on the Pen Bay Board of Trustees. Just when the community was starting to develop a better feeling about PBMC, they elect someone like this to represent them? What a horrible mistake. They seek his advice on quality patient care? That makes me literally nauseous. They obviously didn't perform their due dillegence on Eric Schenk. He gives Osteopathic Medicine and Pen Bay a bad name. What will it take to wake him up?
I've seen enough and been through enough and have switched to a "real doctor" and am so pleased with the service I am now receiving. I urge you to do the same because this man will never change. No wonder he is always accepting new patients -- that speaks volumes.

I am a 87 year old man and I must protest against this Dr. Schenk. I went to Dr. Schenk for erectile dysfunction as I am newly wed to a bride of just 19. I told him I was feeling worn down and unable to achieve proper support for my member. Not only did he chuckle at my predicament but he overdosed me on Viagra, and as I result, I experienced a three day erection as well as a stiff neck. I warn you against Dr. Schenk, he is a hard man to see, or a man to see if you're hard, or the other way around.

That is supposed to be a joke, in my opinion. At 87 you are all washed up and Viagra will not help. Just go to bed and dream about it.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Capricorn

Take things slowly and all will be well. However, you must resist a tendency to be perfectionist over things that don't really matter, otherwise you'll never finish the chores. If you're busy with Christmas preparations, you'll have to control a nagging feeling that you've got to compete with the way other people have done things in the past.
