Call a spade a spade, people move out to this area to get away from crap like this. It clearly can be blamed on the upscale clientel that WalMart so nicely attracts. You can be assured the motives behind this and the people involved.

In response to the other comments, it doesn't matter where you live as long as urban folks make their way out into the civilized areas. People move away from the crime and then thugs come in and ruin the peace. Why are people afraid to admit to the reality?

The real tragedy is that a child's life was taken, not why or who did, but the fact that this child will never grow up and share or be everything they could be. A life is not measured by where people live, how much money they have, or any other physical item. The real tragedy is we as a community couldn't help this child.

A tragedy it is, I agree. But it does show that Germantown is becoming the next West Allis.

This is just sooooo sad. I grew up in Richfield thinking this was a SAFE place to live. I do not feel safe here anymore. I rarely go to Walmart anymore and I definitely won't be going to Walmart in the dark. I have always watched my back in a parking lot and now this just shows that I need to be watching even more. It is sad that the safety I once felt living out here is now gone.

It came up that Im in New Berlin, Im not... I shop at that Walmart all the time. Fully aware stuff happens everywhere. That wasnt my point. I also work in the ghetto. My point was, that Germantown is alot closer then people think, and no matter where you live people are ass-holes. The suburbs are getting bad as it is, they dont need this kind of crap going on

Possibly, if Germantown paid more attention to thier Walmart parking lot instead of speeders in their 25 mph zones, this could have been deterred or prevented. The price you pay for wanting to bring in revenue to a smaller jurisdiction!!

This is not gang related... The boy was killed by someone that he trusted..This crap happens everywhere.. You just read more and hear more when it's in an area with less crime..

They are trying to get the speeders out of here... They are bad and people don't realize that.. I live on a corner that is on a bus route and people don't pay attention to where they drive or that there is a bus letting off kids after school... I want my children to be alive, so if that means more patrol on the roads and not at WALMART then so be it...

Gangs usually will not take the time to drive to a walmart parking lot to do the job. They will just drive past your house. Not to say that Germantown does not have a small gang problem. I think it's evident that they do have some thugs there. West Allis was gang free years ago, now look at that city. I think Germantown is headed in the same direction and it's just a matter of time before they infiltrate.

It's not a matter of where you live. Unfortunately, this could have happened anywhere. The latest information is that Cody's stepfather murdered him. My son went to school with Cody and was his friend. He is deeply saddened by this tragedy. We all need to be in prayer for Cody's family and friends as well as all of John Long Middle School and the community of Grafton. Cody was a great kid and was always willing to help and had a great attitude. He will be missed tremendously!

Why should the police have to "patrol" a Walmart parking lot on a regular basis? I would like to believe that Germantown is a safe place that doesn't warrant police patrol in parking lots. If you are saying that is necessary, we have bigger problems that you realize.

Okay so you are saying that the police should post up in a parking lot instead of patroling the streets? i agree that the gtown police really dont do much besides look for teenagers to bust for drugs but that is what has started to consume germantown. i live there and think the place is boring as hell but no need to have cops waiting out in the parking lot watching people. that is what they have security cameras for.

My son went to school with Cody. My heart breaks for his Family. My one concern is if his step father can shoot and kill him like this, what else was that child putting up with from this man???
They live in Grafton and where the shooting took place has nothing to do with Walmart or Germantown.. It has to do with a Monster Cody refered to as his Step Dad...

I am sure it's gang related. All main roads "appleton ave, capital, silver spring, and good hope" all lead from crap-thug-ville to civilized cities. My parents lived off of 37th and Hampton in the 50's and 60's. The ****'s took over that area. What's next ?
HELLO????? It was his STEP FATHER..... No gangs...

You may not be privy to every little thing that's going on around you, but so what? Crabs can't always be in control, but you don't need to feel insecure, either. Thanks to your electronic devices, you appear to be a little godlike to those who don't have the same access as you do at the moment. Just make sure that you memorise the important stuff in case the system goes down.
