Anyone that is really interested in conserving water should start screaming about the largest users ...yanks, theme parks, tourists, the Villages, and stop developers from building these sprawling old folk communities. Never forget there is nothing lower than a POLITICAN

Juan,
I think our local politicians have just proved your point. Obviously there is more to this than we know about. They have conspired to remove all this public input and remarks from the SJRWMD business. I wonder who instructed them all to vote on this. Probably Crist and Cronies. Given a chance they will all vote our rights away because they have been brainwashed to believe we are too stupid to know what going on. The arrogance of ole Hays. He has not done one constructive thing for us and actually had a temper tantrum in the last few days of the session. He needs help. And, Baker, everything he puts is name on is "nutz." These people should save their time and money trying to play musical offices. We need people with brains who can read to represent us, not puppets who are told how to vote in our best interest. Sounds like Washington, no need to read the bill, just vote for it, I tell you it's just what "we" need. I say to Hays; how dare that liberal press print the truth about you hoodlums! VOTE "NO" INCUMBANTS OR RECYCLED POLITICIANS. THEY CAN'T READ. |
||||
That means voting no on recyled politicians like Conner. |

Why is everyone all worked up over this?
Baker explained hiself on the Opinion page today. Basicly, he said he is either a crook or an idiot, so that makes him just like the rest of our elected and appointed officials county and state and nationwide.. They do something to rip us off, or cause us a lot of aggravation, and then tell us they didn't mean to do it, and even if they did mean to do it they are sorry, and because they are sorry, that means they really didn't do nothing. Sounds just like our two esteemed commisioners that greased the skids for Niagra to come in and pump us dry, and then turned around and encouraged everybody to rat their neighbores out who are watering their lawns. Buisness as usual in Lake County. How come we do not have the story about our leaders spending a hundred thou or so too much on "administration" to help the tornado victims? I been looking for that one, but it seems to have vanished. |
|||
It was knocked around between 50-70 thousand dollars (check out: www.connerreport.com ) but in reality it is millions of dollars in taxpayer money given to friends and family of the well connected in the form of free brand new houses some well outside the tornado zone. They are trying to sweep it under the rug at under one-hundred thousand but both state a federal investigations have been under way for sometime now. This actually surfaced in 2004 before they got the big dollars for hurricanes and tornado's and all the big shots all the way to the Governor covered it up. If they had not, many deserving people could have been helped. Unfortunately as usual they helped the greedy instead of the needy. The piper is coming with his hand out. |

Here is the thingy doo that was circulating the blogs last week.
Commissioners Tuesday April 28TH made moves to inject more responsibility into the county's affordable housing assistance program. Beneficiaries of the program will have to pay back their entire loan on the spot if they ever sell their property or make other moves prohibited in the county's plan, which is updated every three years. Previously, the restrictions expired after five, 15 and 30 years for various programs. The move means Lake will continue to collect money and keep its assistance program going where it lost money before, said commissioner Elaine Renick. Renick also took issue with differences in grant amounts that qualifying residents can get to buy new or existing homes. Previously, residents could get up to $175,000 to help pay for a new, detached home.ACTUALLY MANY NEW HOMES WERE BUILT FOR UNQUALIFIED FRIENDS AND FAMILY AT A COST OF $158,000 EACH ABSOLUTELY FREE. YES THEY NEVER HAVE TO PAY ONE DIME FOR THESE HOMES WHILE OTHERS ARE LIVING IN THEIR CARS. Commissioners said that amount should be dropped to equal the limit for help in buying existing homes; that limit is set at $15,000 in the updated plan. The program was never intended to pay for the full purchase price of a home but, while the commission was looking the other way untold numbers of free homes were being built right under their noses. Check out Alt Key#:1454263 a Free home given by you the taxpayers to an adult family of five (One is a fast food store manager, who is actually granted the homestead exemption by being named on the deed) Even after receiving a new home on their lot it is assessed at $76,108. which Ed Havill's office totally exempts and the owners of the free house have not taxes to pay on same. Are we they taxpayers paying the home insurance for them also? The changes mean the county can help more residents (like the disabled lady shown on channel 9 living in her car with her assist dog somewhere around Tavares) who are either homeless, in substandard housing or looking to buy their first home, Renick said. "If we're very careful with this money, it's going to go a lot further," Renick said. The program gives help to very low-, low- and middle-income residents who qualify through the program. Income levels are based on federal calculations. But no matter a family's income, issues like insurance coverage muddied the waters for some commissioners. Commissioner Jimmy Conner20wanted to prevent help for home rehab following natural disasters from going to homeowners who have insurance, saying the county's commitment would give insurance companies incentive to avoid paying claims. Damage repair assistance can only be granted for damage insurance does not cover, according to the plan. Commissioners did not add Conner's suggestion. Commission chairman Welton Cadwell voted against all the suggested changes, saying at one point there was a difference of "philosophies" when dealing with housing assistance and that the most important part of the program was helping people who otherwise can't get into a home. In other housing news:-- A reduction in federal money for rental assistance means some residents receiving county help could lose their rent money this summer. The federal budget was passed later than usual this year, meaning local governments have not been able to plan as far ahead for needed funds for federal Section 8 housing, said Stacey Kleinfeld, the county's Section 8 housing coordinator. That delay, combined with a reduction in funding as part of the uncertainty, led county officials to enact a plan that would cut some rental assistance funding for the last three months of the fiscal year: July August and September. The plan, if implemented, could affect 100 to 120 families |

I hope, that we who are troubled by the lack of respect shown the democratic process, will remember that Baker and Hays are both reported to be seeking higher office. I can see no reason to reward either of them with future employment.

If they can't get elected, they will just have a job made up for them and get appointed to it. That is why we have so many Linda Chapins and her type hanging on to the public nipple so tightly. This guy is not only crooked, but he does not even have enough decency to come up with a good lie, or enough brain to keep his mouth shut like our two commisioners who closed the Niagra deal behind closed doors last year, and have since clammed up tighter than you know what about it. |

Why wasn't the senator who put in the amendment to Senate Bill 2080 identified? Its bad enough that our reps "missed it" but we should know who got the "pay off " for slipping this in.
|
||||
The co-sponsor of this bill was none other than Senator Cary Baker who is running for Agriculture Commissioner and doesn't know anymore about farming than he does about water. Also Alan Hays State Rep. is running for Bakers seante seat. He voter for it and said he didn't read it but he thought it was fine. Remember to fins someone else to vote for when the Bozo's come up for election again please. |

Sen. Carey Baker, who claims he didn't know about the amendment to Senate Bill 2080, also said that Sen. Alexander told him that he didn't know the amendment was in the bill either. Now, directly contradicting what Baker said, Alexander admits that he was asked to "tack" on the amendment by Rep. Denise Grimsley(R) Lake Placid, and was "assured" the bill amendment was not "controversial" nor opposed by environmental organizations.
Maybe Baker was trying to give some cover to Alexander when he said neither of them knew anything about the bill, but now it is obvious as the story changes, that one or both senators are not telling the truth. It is difficult to believe that a Lake County politician, Sen Baker, would refuse to ask governor Crist to veto a bill he now call bad, one that makes a bad situation worse, and was a "mistake," one he failed to notice. That position is "doubletalk" designed to appear to be doing something, while accomplishing nothing to fix the mistake; in effect supporting the bad amendment. Thanks to Sen. Baker, Sen. Alexander and Rep. Denise Grimsley for bringing Florida citizens a bill that eliminates public hearings, takes away governing board authority to review water withdrawals, favors special interests, and gives one man in each District the power to drain our lakes, springs, rivers, and aquifer. This is a travesty of the public trust; voters approved the current Water District structure and gave the governing boards the power to levy property taxes, but only with a strong voice, public hearings and a governing board to vote on water withdrawals. This new arrangement is an example of taxation without representation, because the public will be deprived of any meaningful participation. The sponsor of this bill amendment, Sen. J.D. Alexander, has made clear that special interests should be placed ahead of best interest of all Floridian's. The bill was designed by and for developers. And, Alexander should know - he is planning to build a 125,000 person city south of Lake Placid, in Rep. Denise Grimsley's district and she gave him the amendment. If you favor government in the Sunshine, and fair and honest dealing, please call Gov. Crist and ask him to veto this terrible bill. |

Anyone know who is running against Hays for Baker's Senate seat? This guy absolutlely needs to be defeated.
|

Maybe the next time it floods people can bill the SFWMD for the damages and charge them to get "Their" water out of your yard!
|

VOTE NO TO INCUMBANTS AND RECYLED POLITICIANS. I don't think his majesty Jim Greer is going to allow anyone else on the Republictard party to run against this idiot. Maybe someone will come forward. This idiot has got to go along with Senator Faker. Neither of this "leaders" can read. The both have admitted that. Hayes hates gays and makes statements about his girlie boy uncle who died of aids and Baker's greatest intelligence is the "No Bull Nutz." bill. for this we have paid these idiots many dollars and allowed them to waste many more. |
