I am SO glad that this animal was caught. He's not even good enough to call an animal either. I tell you, if it would have been my daughter... I just hope he ROTS in prison until his death. Also, I hope he finds Jesus and creates a relationship with Him because he will NEVER get forgivness out here. It's hard for me to anyway.

I’m very close to Richard Doughty. I've known him for years. Everyone wants to know why he had custody of his 3 kids. Why does anyone care? What business is it of yours? But anyways, to answer, he had custody of his kids because he’s a loving, caring, wonderful father. He had his kids in church every Sunday, never complained on how hard it is to raise 3 children on your own. It's hard enough for a single mom but even tougher on a single dad. I honestly have never known of a better father than he. He is a great father and person. He has never ever done anything wrong to any of his kids and I do not appreciate the terrible things you and other people are saying about him because NONE of you know him at all. It's funny to me how exaggerated things can become on the news, but hey, you're just trying to get good ratings right? The girl was in an adult single parents chat room where she didn’t belong. No one mentioned that. Parents need to start paying more attention to their kids.

If he is chat rooms with, little girls then he cant be to great. Just because you go to church does not mean you are christian or incapable of doing bad things. The Devil goes to church every sunday as well. People have being a christian and going to church confused. They are not the samething. They are totally different. America needs to realize this, you cant act like a devil all week long then go to church on sunday and think everything is all well, does not work like that.

Not positive about this...but if they are charging him with soliciting a minor, or propositioning a minor online... I'm pretty sure they have to have proof that he was aware of her age before they can charge him. Any word on that? Have not seen it in the articles. They have to have SOME valid argument to get a warrant and put him in jail.

It's an election year and it's just around the corner, why didn't Sheriff Stanaway take credit for this? Maybe he's waiting for the election year Drug Bust that happens every time he's up for re-election so he can get his picture in the paper. It was a detective posing as the girl in the chat that led to his arrest. I suppose the detective had a vivid imagination, too? And I suppose Doughty didn't think he was talking to a 14 year old even though her age was listed on her chat page?

He's innocent until proven guilty, true. But that doesn't mean we can't evaluate the facts ourselves. And maybe we don't know everything about this predator, but I gotta say, being a good father and going to church every week is rarely a defense to a criminal charge.

That goes to show that these little girls parents need to keep tighter reigns on them. Why should you allow a girl that young to even be on a web site that contains chatrooms. If she can't use the computer with out using the chatroom she doesn't need to use the computer. Let her do her homework the old fashioned way.
