Filing for council positions closed Monday with three residents and incumbent Brent Stewart vying for Ward 3.

Stewart has held the seat since 2006 when he was appointed to fill an unfinished term. He is a Texarkana native and owns Stewart & Co. Florist Inc.

Stewart is challenged by Liberty-Eylau Middle School teacher Aaron Formby, retired citizen Bradley Johnson and Tina Veal-Gooch, the director of public relations for Texarkana Independent School District.

Bradley Johnson: Anyone recognize this name?

Yep, that`s him. The city has been trying to quite him down by putting him in one of those government housing units. He told them it had to be in his home ward. They said Why?
He said because I am running for City Council. Their very words were "Oh Sh-t". Ha ha.

I don`t live in the city but I will talk him up to people. I guarentee the city will fight him all the way. If you live in Ward 3, you can help by talking to people.

I don't either. I will also talk him up. Why not?
Then I have helped talk a few into office that haven't changed the problems of our local systems either.
Why?
They inherit the SYSTEM.
Will he remain the fighter for the people or will he join the system if elected?

I'm Really, Really Happy he has a place for now.

I know GW we would always like to think that, and I believe your most likely right on this one.

For once we may really agree, once screwed by the people's System you know???????

Either way I stand behind him..
Just couldn't help throwing that bitter taste of dealing with becoming part of the Good Ole Boy System out there.
It's enough to make a person think.
Dealing with it, go man make it better for us all.
He really has my support.

Why would ole' super want to take out one of his own with another candidate. The current councilman of Ward 3 is already in with the political machine and his buddy, hint TC board, hand picked him for that purpose.

He might have bucked Sullivan, or he might be a future drag on them for personal reasons.???

Or maybe Sullivan thinks he would have more control over her. If you have been reading about the Parks departments new plans, they are planning on replacing all the playground equiptment in all the parks. I do not know if there is any connection, but someone named Gooch sells playground equiptment.
