I have gotten those before and never used profanity or anything. Just did not agree with someone.

Not quite sure how Obama plans to spur business creation and consumer spending when the average consumer has no disposable income to spend. My budgetary income has not changed in the last year. Neither has my projected spending. However In the past year I have found it harder and harder to buy the normal things I need for me and my family. I'd like to know how he is going to spur my spending habits,HA! He keeps touting this unemployment extension, that's great! Those people will be able to, hopefully sustain their families, probably not, until maybe they can find work. That still wont spur the consumer spending that he says is needed to "boost" the economy.

Negativity is your middle name. Why wait for the president to do something?

One year ago: In his first news conference since being elected president, Barack Obama called on Congress to extend unemployment benefits and pass a stimulus bill. The government reported the unemployment rate had soared to 6.5 percent in Oct. 2008, up from 6.1 percent just a month earlier. General Motors Corp. reported a $2.5 billion loss in the third quarter while Ford Motor Co. said it had lost $129 million.

I'm not waiting for anything. I simply stated the fact that I have the same income that I did last year and am having a harder time now then last year at supporting my family. I am a public servant. That's what I always wanted to be and that is what I will, probably, always will be. My point is that no matter what the president says about spurring consumer spending, it aint happening in my house. I'm on a fixed income just like those that get a free check. I don't have the option of working overtime to make an extra buck. I don't want a handout. However, if the Gov't is giving freebes to those who won't work then by gosh throw some to those are really trying to provide for their families.

I run a business based on construction. Everyone in our business is off by 20% or more.Less sales means less income. less income means less income tax. whats going to happen when they see those numbers next year. More new taxes on me and you!How are the obama followers going to blame this on bush?I think come 2010 when we have elections and throw some of his buddies out we might see some spark.
two of his election promises were, we would not see double digit unemployment figures and no new taxes on the middle income.

Obama also said if we didn`t pass his stimulus we could see 8% unemployment.

If there had been no Stimulus Package, we would be in worse shape. The Republicans - also known as the un-Americans - complained about the stimulus. Now it looks like we need another one. Also, the Republicans held up benefits for the unemployed for over a month. They don't care about their fellow Americans - only about defeating President Obama. Sad.

Why is it so hard to get this in your head. The republicans CANNOT STOP ANYTHING. The Democrats own the congress and the presidency. Why aren`t they doing anything.

Seems to me the whole stimulus idea is a joke anyway. I have seen more money just thrown at organizations that have no idea what to do with it. My economy is hurt right now. Think they'll let me print some money so I can spur this consumer spending thing...? HA

It has taken longer because of the opposition. Job loss was predicted, althouogh not this high of a percentage. Why do you think are not doing "anything?"

There will always be opposition but the main problem is that there those who just wanna rush huge bills thru with letting everyone have a chance to look at it and discuss it. Obviously everyone won't agree when there are so many people involved in the decision making process... No matter any citizens political affiliation, every one has to agree that the whole situation is worse then was a year or more ago...

Kinda hard when I already work a job that requires me to be on call three to four nights a week. I get comp time, by the way, for my over time. I have two kids and a frequently ill wife at home. No family close to help take care of family while I work an extra job. I'm not whining by any means, just saying that my income did us just fine up until with in the last year to year and a half. It irritates me to no end to see people abuse gov't assistance programs while there are working families struggling and can't get any.

You have plenty of time to work a second job instead of being on Topix, conjuring up lies and discord

Bite me I'm home tending to my family... And did it ever occur I may be at work sometimes, Ha! Don't know where you get that I conjure up lies... You do your own fair share of spreading discord.

BR I feel ya man. I been a firefighter for nearly 15 years. I got a kid playin football in high school and one in quiz bowl in jr high. My wife has been to sick to work but not sick enough for disabillty for two years. Two years ago my paycheck did what we needed to do, for the most part. in the last, I'll say 9 months, I can barely make ends meet with all the bills, the groceries and all the stuff the kids require from school. The gas in the car is one big set back. Not to mention the groceries have gon up. I guess I could get another job. At what cost to my family? My wife depends on me to do alot of house stuff when she's down.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Pisces

Are you feeling fraught? It certainly seems that way, perhaps because you've got far too much on your plate and not nearly enough time to tackle it all. Do yourself a big favor and start with whatever is most urgent, otherwise you'll waste time by dithering or getting caught up in trivial tasks. Above all, don't get into a panic because that will squander valuable time and energy.
