How much is this character paying for car insurance?
They should rig his car if he ever has the chance to drive again(I hope not) with the device that diables the ignition if the driver blows a high alchohol content.

What happened to Melanie's law. You know when you get a OUI you need to have a breathalyzer interlock system installed in your car, so that the car simply does NOT start with any trace of alcohol...Hmmm, thought that law was in full effect now.

They charge the person a huge amount of money for one of those systems. Some people just dont bother, and drive illegally

Give the guy a break would ya. It's not like he drove through the park running down people. He made a wrong turn and bumped into a cop car. No harm no foul. You people are all acting like saints, like you've never drank and got behind the wheel. You're all a bunch of phonies!!
i can honestly say that i have never driven drunk.never had the nerve.the thought terrified me. heck i wouldnt even leave the house if i smoked pot. there was too much potential for screwing up.

It took 25 comments before some one had to trot out Kennedys name. You Kennedy bashers are getting soft.

With 4 OUI's under his belt, and facing a 5th OUI the guy clearly needs help. I believe he should be given due process, and given the minimal damage he has done, I would recommend drug/alcohol treatment rather than locking him up. Save the prisons for those who intentionally harm, steal, cheat, etc. to others. People who are sick need an opportunity to get well, and locking him up with common criminals will only make him worse (and more likely to do it again).

Instead of harsher penalties, why don't we invest more in treatment. If we stop the alcoholics from destroying their lives and drinking, does that make them less likely to get behind the wheel and kill someone?

In these forums, you always hear I lost someone, or I have never drank, etc. Why should he pay for someone else's mistake of killing someone? He's not at fault for the lost loved ones of other drunk drivers, and at best harsher penalties would only be revenge against the wrong person.

Get the guy help: yes. Take away his license permanently: yes. Make him pay for the damage to the police vehicle: yes. Heavy fines and imprisonment: no.

He did this 5 times. He should pay heavily for it.

Yes, he needs help. Of course.

All drunk drivers are a risk to society, whether they kill someone or not. I don't care if he never hurt anyone. Luckily, all he hit were the cruisers. But next time, he might not be so lucky.

I agree that we should get him the help he needs, but at the same time fine him for it so that he learns not to do it again.

ARE YOU F'N KIDDING ME???

You blab on about *intent**minimal harm*

NONSENSE.

That man got drunk then drove his motorvehicle on the roadways that WE ALL share. That is intent; That is HARM to anyone who would have gotten in his path.

Drunk Drivers KILL

Drunk Drivers NEED to be PUNISHED

If that punishment be JAIL TIME, so be it.

It is the families and loved ones of those killed by drunk drivers that deserve sympathy; NOT THAT GUY
