Feral cats come to be because of cruel and heartless people who either receive a cat (free) or buy one for next to nothing at a pet shop. When they move or no longer want the animal, they let them fend for themselves. In my view, something has to be done to stop people from doing this, ie. licence for cats, sell for at least $100 per cat, etc. etc. That would settle the feral cat problem in my view. And if someone dare not comply with taking care and responsibility for their pets, hefty fines should be imposed. Cats are domestic animals and should be companions, not aimlessly roaming the streets and neighbourhoods. These animals should also be spayed and nutured. So you see, the problem is not with the cats, it's with the stupid, heartless people who leave them outside to fend for themselves. I can only imagine how they are flee infected, starving, roasting, etc, etc.
If I had the power, there would be none or at wrost, very very few feral cats. You don't see dogs out roaming the streets like cats. Dogs have a lot of respect (for the most part) by society but cats have next to none. It's time for someone to do something about this. And isn't that law about a fine for feeding strays just a 'little' cruel??? C'mon people! Have a heart.

If the county had not stopped picking up trapped cats for free things like this would not happen. I know I was trapping and calling the county for awhile and then they started just this year charging to come empty the traps. The article says to deliver them to the county but try putting a upset cat in your car in a cage. They just urinate or spray your car and that's a mess. We live on a stree where the county came out and picked up over 25 cats in a year. The should ge a clue that there is a problem and come and trap themselves. Its a shame that someone felt the need to kill the cats but whats a person to do if the county won't help with a ferrell cat problem. And No I don't hate cats I have 4 of my own but they are in door cats that are fixed and well cared for.

Amazing isn't it. "How to" reporting.

Very irresponsible to write. They just don't think before writing.

How about TNR (Trap Neuter Realease)? Several groups in the area provide the service for free or a $25 fee per cat and that includes shots and testing. The only thing you have to do is keep the cat indoors, in a crate, for a few days to make sure they are ok after the surgery. No cats making kittens really cuts back and the cats are healthy.

It apears an equally good way to kill stray cats is to turn them over to the proper authorities. Then they kill 'em.

Your post is dead on. As ridiculous as it seems to be at first, when you think about it, that's exactly what this article will do: inspire more people living on the fringes of sanity to act out against innocent animals. Sad.

I think the Sun Sentinel should do an article on How To Make A Low Yield Nuke to Rid Your Neighborhood Of Feral Cats.

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Virgo

If the past few days have been a blur of cooking, washing up and wrapping paper, take a break today and catch up with loved ones. Have a long talk with one of them so you can find out what they've been doing lately, or discuss a topic that concerns both of you. Right now, you're blessed with plenty of diplomacy so the conversation should go well.
