Until these young people get an education and learn about their cultural history, this will keep happening.

At Leech Lake Tribal College, they teach - in addition to the academic stuff - about traditional Anishinaabe philosophy and the 7 values: Respect, Truth, Wisdom, Courage, Humility, Love and Honesty.

If our young people would learn to live by these values, problems would disappear overnight.

I am the so called victim, along with my daughter...say what you feel about me, amos Laduke, but don't aim ignorance towards an innocent little girl who was caught in the middle of her fathers past when it caught up with him. If she was hurt there would be alot more innocent people caught up in the middle of this situation and you'd be dishonoring them by making foolish statements about helpless people.

Just because you have to defend someone who tried to take another life,and in doing so,put an innocent little girl in danger,doesn't mean you need to show your horns on the victims hometown news website! What??! a 5 year old child was breaking into houses and assaulting people? Come on people,why don't you imagine your child in that situation? noone deserves to be shot at,but when you put a little girl or boy into the situation,into the LINE OF FIRE,it becomes something different. I can't even imagine the heartless person who would raise a gun in the direction of an innocent child. It's a sad world when you defend someone like that..
