Citizens from around the State of Maine who are opposed to the deployment of thousands of industrial wind turbines in Maine's mountains will be demonstrating at the Wind Power Conference at the Augusta Civic Center on Tuesday Oct. 6 from 10 to 11 AM.

Wind power in Maine is a product of blatant collusion by the Baldacci administration with the wind industry. It is being forced on Maine's citizens with no regard for the economic, social, medical, and environmental impacts that have occurred with the first projects and are certain to be multiplied with each project constructed.

Friends of the Boundary Mountains, based in Farmington, Maine deplores the destruction of Kibby Mountain in Franklin County by TransCanada’s industrial wind project and urges everyone to attend the rally in Augusta on Tuesday.

TransCanada now wants to devastate Sisk Mountain in Chain of Ponds with another wind project. LURC has abandoned its responsibility to protect the wildlands of our state and citizens must protest what the Baldacci Administration is doing to our mountains and wildlife habitats. This isn’t about green power– it’s about corporate rape of the natural environment.
