I would like to know if I am the only parent who is feed up with waiting in the car rider line in the morning at TES. My child and I were referred to the school social worker because of the number of tardys he has. This was a concern because he was missing the morning math worksheet. However my child was late because we were sitting FOREVER in the car rider line. The drop off system at Temple really needs some work it is not very efficient. If the bus lane and car rider lanes were switched many more children would be able to exit there cars at one time. I have spoken to everyone and the only solution they have is get in the line earlier which equals wait longer. I am over it and would put my child on the bus, but I can't because the crossing point is unsafe and the bus will not come down my road. Anyone else have these same or similar problems???

When my daughter went to Sharp Creek Elementary a few years ago there was a rule that if you were stuck in the car rider line you were not counted tardy. Temple needs to make exceptions to the tardy rules. If we all put our kids on the buses there would be a huge problem with having enough buses. Take this up with the board and see if they will help you. You might want to stand in line one afternoon and get signatures of the other parents who are also having this problem and take that with you to a board meeting. Hope you get a solution!!!

Thanks so much. I actually called the board last week and they were no help. I am just going to keep pushing. My child didn't get out of the car until 7:50 this morning.

What is wrong with riding the school bus? That is what they are there for.....No excuse for the kid to be late..

I would love to put my child on the bus however where we live that is not possible. I live at an inclined crossing so the bus will not come down my road. I have to take him to the end of the street to meet the bus. After the second time someone ran the bus stop sign and I had to grab my child out of the road to keep him from being run over I deceided that was not a safe option for my child.

What is tardy? I mean, if your kid gets out of the car a 7:50, what is does he have to be at his desk?

The correct way to get things done in Temple is to go to the City Council and express your concern about safety. The only way things change is for someone to bring safety or potential cause of action against the city. If you don't have a legitimate safety issue, you will just have to get to school a little early.

For everyone who wants a really good school in Carroll County, Sharp's Creek is a really good school. I can't understand why they don't go fishing for recess!

I see two problems.#1, get him to school 5 minutes earlier.#2, your child goes to Temple. Nuff said.

You know maybe I am just stubborn but if I am getting in the car rider line 10 to 15 minutes before school even starts and my child is still getting to school late I am not going to get in that line any earlier. Since my last post I actually had a very good conversation with a representative from the juvenile court. Apparently I am not the only parent unhappy and they are currently working on a solution for next year. What exactly do you mean my child goes to Temple enough said. I have been very happy with TES except for the drop of situation.

Ok. What does juvenile court have to do with dopping kids off at school? Unless there is a crime being committed, I do not see what a court has to do with school policy. I think the BOE would be the folks to talk too.

Try to avoid arguments with your family and friends. You will be less than satisfied with the way things are around you. Keep the peace with your parents. If you are working, the pressure will be on, but after hours the mood really improves! Relax and get enough rest.
