Off-duty officer fatally shoots man, wounds another in fight

just another cop with a power trip. with all that training and being accompanied with friends he still had to kill someone. so much for police training... everyone better watch out for off-duty cops looking for trouble.

if someone sexually assulted my wife/girlfriend he and i would have a confrontation too. a community 'protector' ya right. he said that he thought it was his "sister". what are you doing grabbing your sisters ass anyway. sounds like an officer that i want patrolling my streets. i think i'll move to costa mesa

You might want to check some of the other stories regarding the "victim" of this. Numerous convictions for assulting people with weapons and when he outnumbers them. Sounds like the same pattern again...this time, the victim was an off duty cop who could and did defend himself.

Drunk, carrying a gun? How about just pull the gun out and threaten with it. Not blast away while a 7year old stands nearby. He should not be able to work as a cop again. No matter how many fights the victim had been in.

Assuming you had the right to carry a gun as this officer does- If someone jumped you and split your head open would you wait, and hope they stopped? or would you defend yourself??

Most off duty officers carry guns.
The officer had every right to defend himself with dealy force(using his gun).

To those who have stated that this cop is just another classic example of police using excessive force are just plain stupid. The officer was getting his ass kicked almost to the point of unconsciousness. Can you imagine if they knocked him out and used his own gun against him! Think about it, try using your brain cells before jumping to conclusions. He had every right to defend is life period.

What morons are those who critize this officer for doing his job. Obviously they are clueless to the fact a police officer takes a sacred oath and his job does not end when he/she clocks out at the end of the day. Do these morons think law enforcement enjoys killing these "bottom of the food chain" of the human race". Many officer's and their family are seriously impacted after shooting of this nature. I am in my mid-20's now and know quite a few people that have become pigs in varoius parts of the state and all of them fit the same profile: Angry, tormented as youngsters by family members and or peers, hateful, vendictive, etc (as you get the point). These are mentally unstable individuals that take an oath of whateverthehell and are priveledged enough to drive around with loaded weapons and a button to push in order to call many more of them to come out and open fire on whichever drunk, teenager, minority or homeless person they are dealing with in a situation. Ofcourse they are going to bring their gun everywhere they go and pull it out whenever any situation to where they could potentially get away with it is thrown in their face.

You are sick! Since you are for the freedom of the United States or Oroville or whatever the hell you stand for, why don't you join the military and go defend our freedom in Iraq? Seriously, those Iraqi civilians are at great risk to take away our 'freedom' and not only are they 'bottom of the food chain' but they sleep in their closets hanging by their knees in the dark and have big fangs and claws that come out of their hands.

it all started with this off duty cop sexually assulting a women. my question is,was the off duty cops sister/wife/girlfriend even at this event? and does she even resemble the victims girlfriend that was groped?

I thought we were discussing a police involved shooting, not Iraq. Iraq is closer to my heart and family than you can imagine.
One more thing! Who do you call when your life or someone you care about is endangered, or you have been robbed?

The solution is obvious. The laws are in place. All you need to do is buy a gun and apply for a concealed weapons permit. If we all did that, we could all carry guns and handle situations just like this guy. That might make an end to crime. It would be Marshall law all citizens could handle their own affairs. Then we wouldn't need cops or prisons. Business would be taken care of expeditiously.
