As word usages becomes more "common," the original meanings change. Words evolution, as do people's perceptions to them.

For example, If you were to call someone "queer" 100 years ago, they would respond with something like,'why do you think I'm strange?' Today, it's used as a derogatory.

Despite what archaic connotations you might want to dredge up, I don't believe it is meant today to deride Native Americans.

I think people truly appreciate the plight of the Native American, and are saddened by their unfortunate history. They (we) are a proud people, and one that deserves honor and recognition.

By saying I no longer want our teams, or towns, or, or school, or mascot, etc. associated with Native Americans, what would be the true evolution of dishonor? Abandoning any reference whatsoever, because of archaic connotations, and idiots like you who think we all have to politically correct to a fault?

I am a proud Tecumseh resident. I appreciate the names of the streets in my towns, I love the Pow-Wow every year, and my child is proud to call herself a Tecumseh Indian. The school just recently (and sadly seriously considered) changing their mascot to the "Shooting Stars." How does that hold honor to Native Americans? By being so stupid as to say that we are no longer going to associate ourselves with a proud people, because one idiot like you thinks an archaic reference is offensive and for Pete's sake, let's all be incorrectly politically correct {sarcasm}?!

You're the one that needs to rethink their "education."
