But i understand you didn't think it through before you wrote back. And yes you are right they are hardly comparable, you are talking about taking them out of this world and in talking about them bringing them in. a teenager is NOT ready for a child. i mean most still need there parents to remind them to brush there teeth. there still in school and are probably to full of air to know how to raise a child. my mom was in her thirties when i was born. a child is a burden especially when your still in school if you want a decent paying job you need an education. i would feel sorry for the kid because he/she would be raised by a mom that has no experience in real life other than school. she most likely not have a boy to be the father because thats too young and when people are still growing they change. and nowadays with the world that man will be going out cheating. its too young.

this is rediculous emo kids have emotional problems. they dont cut for attention its to let pain out. it helps but it gets addictive. people need to lay off and goth is there own personal style. this is one of the most sensitive subjects because people arent mature enough to talk about it and then they bitch about it and get up in your face.

I could see if it's all they had to wear but most of these pants cost more than anyof the other top brands. And that store hot topics shold be shut down. That place gives me the creeps. people should be able to wear what they want. its a style they like it and its not for attention. and if you say hot topic should be shut down then i say the stores that should be shut down is abercombie and fitch and those other stupid stores. they smell like ass. and thats not true about the cost. get your facts straight cuz it doesnt cost more. if hot topic gives you the creeps then why the hell you go in there?

I know this post is really old but I felt the need to interject. "Gothic" clothing is just clothing, just like any other type of clothing, except with darker colour and belts and chains etc. It is a style, and goth personalities vary entirely. I am what people would call a "goth". I wear black trousers and skirts,(nothing that ends higher than my ankles, thank you)and t-shirts. I often wear odd things like top hats, military style jackets and waistcoats. This has nothing to do with my personality or beliefs or friend group, none of my friends are goth, they are all different. I am also 19 (almost 20) and I have been like this since I was 11, so for me at least, it is not a phase. To the ignorant people thinking this is a religious thing, it isn't. I do not believe in Satan, let alone worship it, I have a very happy personality and I work hard, I am currently at University (England). I am the sort of person that will always be smiling and I love being with my friends and meeting new people. I am even the kind of person that gives up my seat on the bus for elderly. So please throw away all the misconceptions, they are insulting and just as prejudice as racism and sexism and it counts as bullying. OH and the Emo thing, I wouldn't really know, I have an emo friend, she is very nice, but I don't know her enough to judge, but I definitely know she doesn't cut herself, but I do know people who have, none of them are part of a "subculture". Sorry to complain, I just don't like prejudice people :) thank you for reading, have a nice day.^_^

The Emo's understand the music of bands like Korn and Evanescence; therefore, they want to be a FREAK ON A LEASH as though the song says. The most important thing you can do for any kid is give them a place to hang out where they feel free to be truthful to an adult, and not be judged harshly. There was the Elvis era, the Hippie era, the Disco era; and so on, and so forth to the Emo era. If you cannot talk to your kid about the important stuff like, "emo is fine, but forget about cutting yourself as it's stupid"; then give them someone to call at least= 1-800-273-TALK because teenagers are at point in life where their minds are not fully developed, and they often do not see say 70 years down the road into the glory of another day of living. Why do they want to hurt themselves? Maybe because they feel no one understands the way theY suffer emotionally inside. Tell them the facts=If you cut yourself, you are ill, and I will put you in a hospital. Kids can have their music, clothes, dyed haired, piercings, etc; but when it comes to cutting yourself, that's where you as a parent, have to draw the line because harming yourself or another is a sign and symptom of mental illness; and if you're ill, you're going to a hospital that will treat you for that illness. Hey, I like some goth music, I like all music, if I listen to it long enough, and it grows on me. I just wish I could have a crystal ball to have these kids see into the future, when they are 56 as I am, to see they have so much to be proud of in their little town=a truthful, fun honest singer named Eric Church. Well, it took me 44 years to like my parents type of music=country, but now that I am old like my parents once were, I understand. Time will heal the tight pants, the dyed hair, the emo mentality; but time may not heal your dead kid that felt like he or she had no one who understood them being a teenager. It's a time of Identity vs Identity Crisis. Raising a teen is more difficult than raising any other age, but those teenagers must be as important and able to depend on you as a parent, as when they were a little baby depending on you for a bottle of milk. Get down to their level, listen to some of their music, and give them boundaries as far as their emo thing goes=it's all good, but not the cutting. Cutting is nutzo! It's a cry for help and attention, and you must seek treatment for your children, if they participate in it=MAKE SURE YOUR KIDS KNOW WHERE YOU DRAW THE LINE! Then they will KEEP ON KEEPING ON until they are old, all their kids are grown, and they look back and say, "I AM DAMN PROUD I CAME FROM A TOWN WHERE ONE OF THE BEST ARTISTS IN THE WORLD CAME FROM, and would have not realized that, if it were not for my parents." Change is slow, but things and people do change=IT'S A GIVEN.

How about all you ignorant f***ers quit judging and stereotyping. "emo" is way of expressing ones self. Through music clothes etc. parents shouldn't be saying their child can't look a certain way because THEY don't like it. You try to push your child into being what you consider "normal" and they'll resent you. They'll push you away. Let be themselves and express themselves freely. Stop being a bunch of uptight c*nts. Thanks.

Goths Are Scumbags wrote: I blame the current world we are living in for the rise in children, teens, and youth opting to be Gothic, emo, or something along those lines. Too obsessed with anything that has to do with Halloween. Vampires, werewolves, witches, Satan, devil, architecture pre-dating World War II, etc. I am sick of hearing how beautiful that is too. I really do what I can to avoid that trash. Goth came back from a long absence and is now growing. It's a real shame today's youth can't have something positive and enlightening. I think their scumbags, all of them. HAIL SATANNNN!!!!!!!!! 666

"We"("Gothic people") are not all teenagers, first of all. I am an adult who is at the end of my wits hearing about this crap. What the hell are "Gothic" people anyway? It's a media concept. Friggin media owned and monopolized by a very few corporations with the same beliefs in common. There's the Rothschild system, bullshit bipartisan system, puppet govts, gang stalking, and all else... No wonder kids are messed up.
EVERYONE is being divided into groups, and Democrats and Republicans are a well-known example. That's what the people who control the world's finances WANT! They WANT to pit everyone against each other, Dem vs Rep, black vs white, rich vs poor, goth vs mainstream, WHATEVER! You're like dogs fighting over a piece of meat! Displaced anger! That's what they WANT so you'll be kept in line and you won't figure out the TRUTH.
And it seems like anything we "Gothic" types do we get scrutinized for. I'm not here to give Gothic types a better reputation. The truth is, I don't give a fuck about their or my reputation. I just want to live my life, and I'm sick of this shit. I don't even want to hear about it. It gets old. I'm not even Gothic! But we share the same problems due to our appearance and dress sense being considered extreme, and the fact that we follow a supposedly "darker" path. See? All of these labels are given by someone else.
Anyway, I'm sick of being harassed. What I or people like myself do has NOTHING to do with ANY of you scumbags, got it? Mind your own goddamned business. That's the main problem: You think EVERYTHING is about YOU, that we're putting on a show for YOU or conveying a message to YOU. BULLSHIT! YOU'RE the ones who disturb US! How about THIS: Don't talk to us, don't make comments, don't get in MY fucking way in particular, otherwise you and I are going to have a problem. I don't dress up for hours on end just so I can get fucked with and disrespected.
Just know the TRUTH. Learn about what's happening to you. Don't be a retard. And I won't start shit either. We have to figure out what to do with our lives. Focus on REAL issues. We have to CHANGE the system. CHANGE is good. Expose yourselves to new realities and ways of living. Don't hold on to an opinion just because it is convenient for you. And guess what? I have a right to go out in public for appointment dates OR personal enjoyment and not have some scumbag come up to me and ruin it. This should be against the law. I will contact the proper authorities any time this happens.
It seems that for all the interest which is invested in this issue, the only thing people have to say are negative comments, like they deliberately WANT to find something in "us" Gothic types to pathologize. I'm not putting up with it. I have dignity, for God's sake! What IS all this shit? Goths, pfft... I don't have the time for any of that. Damnit, I just want to improve myself. I want to learn, I want to continue to grow. I have stuff to do, I have life to live. The least you can do is leave me to my own device. Please, just leave me be.
And fuck your religions and your "God" too. You're all so pathetic I can't even stand it. I don't even hardly leave my house unless its absolutely necessary. At least the Internet has free speech. Even that won't be for long though because everyone is willing to fuck it all up because they can't handle the freedom. All I can do is wait patiently for World War III. Maybe then I can offer my services and we can rebuild (But then again, why in the hell should I?). And we can know never to repeat the same mistakes again. No more status quo. But knowing you all, I doubt anything will ever be THAT good. Shame. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. All you people do is fuck shit up. Complete wastes of space. And fuck me too, while I'm at it.

What a bunch of sourpuss old ninnies. I'm sure you are all so perfect, a bunch of grown adults making fun of kids who are trying to step out of the box and be themselves. Get to know these kids before you assume they are all a bunch of self-harming devil worshipers, I cannot for the life of me understand this level of ignorance! You would rather a child be born into this world to an unprepared young girl than a child who is trying to step out of the norm? Get over yourself. It is not your job to judge these children, nor do you have the right. Their parents are not bad simply because they encourage self-expression. I'm sorry not everyone in this world wears khakis from L.L. Bean, but you are just going to have to accept that there are people different from you.

Just a shot in the dark, but I'm sure many of the perpetrators here are lower-middle/middle class, white Americans born in the South or currently residing, and self-professed Christians. You want to talk about stereotyping people? Ok. You are the reason we Southerners have a bad rap. The God I know would never want me to judge others, and speak of them in the horrid manner that you do. Much less children!! Children are a gift and a blessing from God, isn't that what you are taught? The clothing on their bodies means nothing. From the sound of it, you all are the types who show up to church twice a week to keep up appearances. Here's a groundbreaking piece of advice: You actually have to pay attention in church and incorporate the lessons into your own life! Instead of making fun of these children for being depressed and wanting attention, get your head out of your ass and REACH OUT TO THEM. I'm sure when you're watching the evening news and hear of yet another teen suicide, you clasp a hand to your chest and say "Ohhh no, not another sweet child, so young! What would drive them to it? Why didn't anyone try to help?" They probably didn't try to help because they were too busy making fun of the child for being different. Oh wait, that sounds familiar..

I wish people would just be ok with emo/goth kids. why do you even care that your kids are goth? I bet at sometime in your life yoou may have been the odd one out and people people i realise you don't want you kids turning out bad but gosh you parents need to lighten up on your kids some goth/emo's may not make since to you but you parents shouldn't be dislikeing the new generations style. parents of teens who dress this way remeber had some funky styles back then too so if you will parents stop caring so much what there wearing at least there style isn't too revealing <3please don't judge us :(<3

I am a goth myself. The majority of comment are stereo types. I know when I go in the street in a black outfit in mid-summer I'll get attention, but That's not what I do it for. Maybe you should say some things about actual goths instead of teens that want attention. Also goths and emo's actually don't get along where I am. We are totaly different. The person with the lace blouse, corset, long blouse and parasol is probably goth. The guy in just a black T-shirt and tight jeans is probably an emo. The music and style are different too.

I'm goth, I'm no devil worshiper, but I don't say I agree with everything Christianity says. I haven't found a religion I like, but I'm looking pretty hard. I'm a straight A student and I got a scholarship to a private school for a while, but then we moved and the public school here is a lot better than the private. I've never done drugs, never had sex, never ever ever broken my curfew, never broken a law. I was bullied a lot in school, but that was before I was goth. I enjoy darker things, but the idea that human life exists at all and then the fact that I exist and have both of my parents that love and support me (for the most parts, I am still a teenager after all) is so incredibly mind blowing that I can't see every single day as anything more than a great blessing and gift that I need to make the most of. I know I'm asking to be left out or excluded by being different, but at least I'm proud to be different. I'm not gonna wear outfit A because magazine A said that's what people want to see me in. Parents get freaked out by me. That's alright, I get it. I look a little scary and I am talking to their child. But I try not to wear my extreme outfits to school, I mean, it's school. We're here to learn, yes I express myself, but platform boots and fishnets and lace are too distracting for a learning environment. I get that people are scared of me, it's ok. I admit to liking the second glances, but I merit them. I'm not someone who is easily forgotten. I try to get the first impression from the clothes, but the real one from me. Who do you think would be more fun to talk to: the goth girl who is willing to be a freak in public and laugh at herself or the overly self-conscious preppy girl who won't want to break a nail? I believe that, since I already look the part, I may as well have some fun in public and be a freak. More fun to rap about Star Wars with my little brother than to worry what the guy whom I'll never actually talk to or see again thinks of me. Hey, he might even come over and talk to me.
