It was suggested by riverrat on another forum to start a post of good 'ol Ecorse memories. We all have those fond memories of growing up in Ecorse. Kind of like 'Cheer's Bar' where everyone knows your name -- that's Ecorse. No other city in Downriver like it.

Please share a fond memory of growing up in Ecorse (no politics, please). Let's continue to remember what has made Ecorse special. Feel free to post a long or short story about your Ecorse experiences.

I'll start...

Remember when ... there was free skating at the rink and the hot chocolate was hotter than any other hot chocolate on the planet!

I remember when you could go down 8 block and get a decent bag of weed, now those nugs only sell bags of grass clippings and then try to rob you...

I remember when skating was outdoors. Long before the Building was built. Playing baseball at the Hardball Diamond at Munie. Matter of fact, put a few on top of Ice arena. We had a Recreation program second to none !!!! Hot Dog, Bernie, Tony Spears, all the bunch...May God bless them all.

Yep! And, speaking of the shoes in the box... remember when the red Chuck Taylor Converse came out and EVERY guy had to have them? My brother was so exited to get them and wore them up to the rink on the first night he had them and they were stolen out of the shoe box. Doesn't sound like a fond memory but it's one we laugh about now becaue DAMN he loved those shoes and DAMN were my parents pi$$ed! Even the not so good memories end up being good memories.

Ground rules -- must be a fond memory and no rising to the bait of some idiot. Any smart a$$ $hit in here just ignore them like a class clown -- best way to make the class clown go away.

Remember when the city didn't smell like a giant shit sandwich and you could go swimming in the river without worrying about getting a STD rash or running into bobbing heads in a bag...
