Review: Fit N Fitness

I joined in early January 2008. Every month they have a new "GRAND OPENING" date. They insist that they will make up for the lost time, and make it worth our while to stick with them... I've seen the building - it has floors, electric, showers, a "gym" feel - so what is the problem? No return on phonecalls anymore (they picked up the phone until early Oct, then stopped all together).

I call daily. What it going on? Is it just a scam? It's not possible that construction can take this long. If they can't manage getting open, what are the chances of them running this place?

I joined planet fitness in taunton after getting the runaround from those pathetic people at fit n fitness i cancled my membership they stated I would receive a check within 2 weeks been more than a month, i wish i never even when to that darn trailer they are losers and need to get a life

I joined over a year ago and the gym hasn't even opened yet. I can't wait till it opens so I can go down there and get my money back by causing damage to the place. They never return phone calls even to the Better Business Bureau. Terrible organization.

My wife and i joined last April and were told via e-mail that we could apply for a refund (i see that`s not going to be easy to get our money back) . We are using the Bridgewater Fitness club that they offered to use for free (at least till Dec.8 as my temp. card says). Things don`t look good for Fit N Fitness. I see no progress there and no reasons why. They took everyone`s money though.

I joined the gym in February 2008 paying for the year in full, being told it was opening April 1st. It is now November and the gym is still not open. I have asked on numerous occasions for a refund and have received nothing. I unsuccessfully filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney Generals Office. The gym won't even respond to them! I am now in the process of taking it to small claims court. John Coppell is a jerk. I have spoken to him on the phone and in person. He is rude and uncooperative. I want my money back and won't stop until I get it. Awful Awful business.

The took my money without any issues, but due to the fact that the gym hasn't opened when they promised, I have requested my money back. Getting my money back is the biggest issue. The never return my phone calls. I am out hundreds of dollars cause of this misfit organization. Don't join! Owner is an absolute douchebag.

I joined in june of 08, they are not returning calls, answering emails or even at the building itself. There has not been any work done to the place for a solid month and a half. I will be calling attourney generals office.

My boyfriend and I joined in October of 2007, yes 2007!! I think we were told the gym would be opening "in 4-6 weeks" every single time we called. Like the rest of you, they are not returning our phone calls or e-mails. We live very close to the gym and have driven by during the week and nobody is down there. Does anyone even work in there anymore? Their voicemail system is completely full so you can't even leave a message. We have looked inside the building and seen no progress at all. Has anyone else driven by there and actually seen people "working" inside?

They took our money and ran with it. I held out afraid of this, until June to signed up. They had said they would be opening July 15th 2008 for sure .
Then they tell us to go to Bridgewater for free. My sister went to see it on the first week of Oct. and they offered her a great deal (ya right) for $300.00 knowing they are not going to open. They still take the money. I asked for my money back ya no problem so nice about it. Haven't heard from Gail Barbas sence. I heard they claimed bankrup. I sent for a refund way before that its now been over a month they told me two weeks.

Husband and I joined beginning of Spring. I did receive a refund for my membership but not my husband's. I spoke with Gail and she was real nice and encouraged me to not give up. If I wanted, they would keep my husband's down payment and we both could stay on, I believe this was in September. She actually switched my husband's membership to my son because my husband did not want any part of them. I really believed they were going to open. I only wished I listened to my husband. I have tried a # of times to call with no reply. I even call Jim's cell # and now I believe it is disconnect. I have been advised to the call the AG office. I hope Gail has given up on Jim (her fiancee) because he's taking her for a ride also.

There will be blood!

The owner owns Sal And Katy's in Stoughton, maybe he will pay everybody back with free food!!!!!!!

I signed up at a Family Fit n Fitness in February '08, and they were SUPPOSED to have their grand opening on April 1st....well, it's almost the end of November and nobody knows what is going on. I've left messages and sent Gail emails (after she sent out an email to members stating that we could use the Facility in Bridewater) and I have heard nothing back. They have recently terminated the 1877-FitNFitness number. I called the Bridgewater Facility and they said they know just as much as we do. They only met with the owner (Jim) once, and have not heard from him since. I want my money back, and as far as the contract goes, it's junk to me, since everything on their is invalid to begin with.

STAY AWAY. I just want my money back. Nobody deserves to be jerked around financially, especially in today's economic crisis!!!!!!!!!!

Hence, I will be calling the AG office.

I just went by there today. No one there! Still looks the same. No light fixtures, no padding, nothing! I signed uo in Nov. 07, yes, 2007!

They officially filed for bankruptcy.

Looks like we might be screwed as Fit N Fitness was set up as an LLC:
The investors are not responsible at all if the company is dissolved. Also partnerships can also be LLC's if they are incorporated. Limited liability means you can not be sued for personal assets such as your personal car or home. You can be sued for the assets of the business but you can also dissolve the corporation and open a new one if the company is sued. It does not matter what the investors put in only the current value of the company.
Anyone have any ideas on this?

I filed a complaint with the attorney general's office on Monday. It looks like we will all get screwed. A few friends have gotten reimbursement checks only to have them bounce. Word has it that one of the partners has passed away, but I don't know if there is any truth to that. Bridgewater Fitness knows nothing about Fit n Fitness in terms of its progress. I contacted the TACC and their president has tried contacting them via phone to find the same thing we have all found (NO RESPONSE) As was stated, it appears we have all been duped!

I wonder how the owner(John Copell) who owns Sal and Katy's in Stoughton would feel, if people ordered food and decided just not to pay for it. would he feel cheated???
