How about the double charges that Sunpass makes,I can't tell you how many times I have been overcharged. Can we send Sunpass a fine for overcharging? This system has way to man flaws for me to feel comfortable with. So if the sunpass transponder fails we are getting fines and may lose are license, great then I can go on welfare and live like half the other FL drones

Oh Wahh to the Sunpass drivers. You bought it and you use it why is it some one elses fault. It is called being responsible for your own actions. Your responsibility to check battery and check if balance is low. Whiners and losers all complaining about not getting something for nothing yet at the same time welching on $26 million to the state. Pay up, shut up, and stop costing more taxpayer dollars trying to collect. You cause us all extra tax dollars.

But. for some reason if I go thru a toll.. my transponder doesnt work.. and I am in no way notified..how am I supposed to know I owe money? doesnt make sense to me. especially if they come to arrest me :)

Just another way government can steal money and impose fines on the population as well as prying into peoples whereabouts.
Just say no and dump SunPass today! |

By the time they send you a letter with a picture of you sitting in your car with your sunpass on your dash, they have spent more than 20 times the cost of the fine. They should charge people from out of state double and just let the residents go free...

Are you an moron. Let me give you an example of my morning sunpass commute..3 toll plazas and my transponder only went off 2 times. Is that my fault or the fault of their system. I replace my batteries at the beginning of each month which is far more then should be needed. Get a life. |
I'm starting to see who you really are. Completely anti-bike and all pro-car. |

Try calling Sun pass to straighten out the mess. I was on hold for 45 minutes before hang up!

If the driver has a transponder and has followed the system rules with the open credit card, then they should not get a ticket. Why not crack down on the vehicles with no transponder? Since the system isn't perfect, the state shouldn't hold people responsible that have made a good effort to comply with the requirements. Instead, the state should hire a consulting firm to help provide solutions such as a new, improved system. For example, if a series of prompt toll payments is interrupted and then starts again on track, it could indicate a problem with the transponder. Therefore, this driver would get a "pass" on a ticket and mayber receive a letter that states a possible problem with the equipment. Surely, there are better approaches than hitting people on the head with hefty fines and the threat of losing their license.

Giving any place access to your bank account to automatically withdraw money is a dumb idea. You are bound to get double or incorrectly billed due to someone elses error at some point. That goes for FPL, Insurance, or any other auto pay. What seems like a convenience every month will eventually turn into a problem. Why take that chance?

I must be missing something. When you register for Sunpass, you give them the year, make and license tag of your car. When it doesn't work, the system takes a photo of your plate. Assuming that your balance is adequate or your credit card is working, why is it that they can process and mail you a letter based on that license plate, but not merely charge the correct toll to your account instead of putting themselves (and you) through all this expense and aggravation? Bureaucrats seem to have a congenital problem with merely doing the simplest and most useful thing, don't they?

This is absolute dishonesty by SunPass. These people all need to be charged with fraud upon people of the State of Florida, the legislature and the Governor. This is all about raising money and money only and they don’t care how they are souring people about THEIR government. Why don’t the newspapers do an investigation as to how many people who have SunPass and automatic replenishment get suspended licenses because of the SunPass transponder not working or SunPass not replenishing the balance within a reasonable amount of time. They even sell transponders that the owner can not tell if it is even working without first creating a violation. No test button like the original model and now the new “mini” doesn’t even have the ability to let you know it’s not working when driving thru the toll lane. Then the police stop the driver and issue a ticket all the knowing that there are such manifest problems with Sun Pass and further knowing that most people can not afford the time to challenge the ticket and appear in court and just ay the ticket. Then it gets worse because they then have to deal with the Drivers’s License Bureau which makes SunPass seem like a finely oiled machine. Despicable and nothing less.

There is no problem! That is until they make it a problem so they can extract more money from you. This is the American Way. Shaft anybody you can for a buck! Even your Granny in her grave is not safe from these mean government predators. |

My feelings are that Sunpass is a great innovation. A lot of people are misinformed regarding the Sun Pass. The bottom line is, if you do not use it, your credit card will not be billed. Is everyone aware that tolls are less expensive with a Sunpass!? It is so much more convenient. My license plate was replaced and I immediately called to have the records changed. It is as simple as a phone call and just making sure that the batteries are working properly. Being oblivious to the fact can cause much unneeded expense and aggravation that, believe me, we all do not need. This economy is bad enough, and we do not have to incur prices for fines due to OUR negligence. Enjoy your day.

Government reaps the benefit of reduced labor and puts the responsibility of keeping poor technology working on the backs of the overburdened taxpayers, what's new?
