The reason is Debra Lafave got away with it with a slap on the wrist, now everone thinks they can too. If she had been put in jail, this would nto be happening

Well, let us see...
Could be real simple. Like maybe they are still heterosexual males while they are in high school...not pediphiles,sexual deviants,and maybe because they might still be polite. And because it is very hard to meet a regular heterosexual male. The world is a very scary place out there for heterosexual females...very scary. Maybe they feel safer with the younger ones. Society is achanging. No one knows how "to date". Lost art. No gentlemen and no ladies. No decency. On the TV,internet,ads-they are terribe,make women look like sluts and the men treat them that way. |

Lafave didn't "get away with it"...she pleaded guilty and received three years of house arrest, four years of probation, register as a sex offender, and undergo sex offender counseling. She's a convicted felon. |

DEBRA LAFAE Proved to all TEACHERS that they can sleep with students and get away with it. If she had got the MAXIMUM prison time allowed by law, the teachers would have thought twice about having sex with their students. I FAULT THE JUDGE THAT SET HER FREE AS WELL AS THE SCHOOL BOARD FOR NOT ENFORCING THE DRESS CODE. the boys walk around with their pants to their knees and the girls walk around with ass cheeks out and chest falling out of their shirts. NOT ONLY THAT, SOME TEACHERS COME TO WORK DRESSED LIKE THEIR GOING TO THE CLUB.

1 Debra's not the only one to get away with it either. All females get away with it because there is a double standard when it comes to statutory rape. Men are sent away to prison, and women get probation because women having sex with underaged boys is not seen as a big deal to our society. Most people will smile, and say "what's the big deal, the boy got lucky". Whereas, if a 45 year old man has sex with an underaged girl, most people will call for him to be hung from the highest tree. Until the "justice" system starts being blind when they dole out punishment, the crime will not only continue, it will escalate. |

Whoa! Sentenced to live in her own home for 3 years! How cruel!:-J Ask anyone sitting in jail if she got away with it, and I think they would have a different opinion. |

1 It doesn't help that education is no longer a career for those with exceptional expertise in their subject matter, but rather a "job" you can obtain with a teaching degree - a degree not worth the paper it's printed on. The average GRE score of an education student is far, far below that of any other graduate program. Schools no longer hire educators, they hire folks who can regurgitate pre-planned curriculum. It's a sad state of affairs really. I'm not sure why people are so surprised - you let your daughters dress like whores, and let your sons treat women like objects. What type of behavior were you suspecting? None of these were cases where the student was forced to do something they didn't want. There's a lot of blame to dish out here. |

As a society we have been desensitized by so much sexual material everywhere,our children are just minicking what they see.

Nothing new, folks. Read up on Abelard (teacher) and student Heloise (middle ages' love affair) and others, many others, including numerous affairs through the years .. it ain't new and it ain't goin' away.
Male teachers have been "guilty" and in the news always. Just now making a big deal out of female human weakness. Anything to form a committee, pass legislation or leak to the media about... in the past it would have been kept quiet, within the school, and was. Now it's a front page headline if someone yells out loud at someone else, pics are sent to You tube and the reporters get a raise. |

I see no JAIL (you know, behind bars) time here... what she got was a slap on the wrist.. damn, if i could commit a felony and have to stay around the house I'd be thrilled! |

They do "fill" the jobs, but there are still A+ teachers out there in the trenches everyday trying to educate these kids. I think you would have more quality teachers if the compensation for the hell they go through were better. Or if there were back up for discipline a bit more. It would make the burn out rate much lower. Today's teens are much more sexualized than I am, and I am 30. they know so much more than I ever did at their age. I knew the basics my parents taught me of birds and bees.... they know every slang and derrogatory word about it that I have learned from them. I knew a girl recently who is 17 and had a kid (a toddler)... she was going out on her "first real date"... isn't that a bit way too backwards? Where was she just casually hooking up... not even dating? i suppose it could have been forced upon her, but let's get real... many young teens 12-15 are parents even some "good kids" (no drugs or alcohol) by all other respects. it so nuts! |

You're right, there are still some great teachers left out there - but more and more, the schools are trying to push them out the door in favor of young teachers who they can exert more control over. It's part of the reason I no longer teach. Again, I think the problem is that we're approaching this from the perspective that the only thing different is the teachers, when it's far, far more dynamic than that. |
||||
Uh, because the students are children, and the teachers are adults? Just because the child is curious about sex, this doesn't give you (THE ADULT) the right to "help them alleviate their sexual curiousity". If the teacher was a 45 year-old man, and the child was a 15 year old girl, there would be no confusion here. Everyone would agree that the man was a pervert, and should be carted off to jail. |

Jail would have served no more purpose than house arrest...with house arrest the taxpayer doesn't pay to support her. So go commit a felony and report back to us how are thrilled to have lost your freedom (house arrest), your job,(in her case her teaching license as well). Do you think you'd be thrilled to have your name on the "Sexual Offender Registry"? |
||||
Slap on the wrist!!- loss of her job - loss of her teaching license - being a registered sexual offender for the rest of her life - being convicted felon. Do you think Lafave and the other teachers had never heard of Mary Kay Letourneau. If knowing people were being sentenced to prison was a deterrent to others, our prisons would not be full. |

I do not think they are SLEEPING, they are doing a lot more.

You are right, And this should recieve equally treatment |
