Gays in Schuylkill County

What are the views on gays in Schuylkill County? Has it become more acceptable to be gay, or is it synonymous with perversion?
Do you know of any gays, and what impact have they had on you and the community that you know of firsthand?

I have many gay and bi sexual friends in Schuylkill County. Most of them have very important jobs here. What ever they do behind closed doors is their own business. I for one am bi sexual! But i dont bring it out in the open. I think everyone has a place in life and should do what they need to do to get along! I whing the good looking guy at Luigi's Pizza shop is CUTE!! Wouldnt mind meeting him at the gym. YUMMY!!! I think his name is Moss

You are not bi. You are gay like most alleged bisexuals who seem to spend all of their time on the gay side of the fence. Regarding men who deceive their wive while conducting cover homosexual activities, and all of the gay men encourage such a violation of trust, may you all.....(I cannot say the words on here).

I am a gay men with morals, which means I do the right thing even if it is against me. I do not flaunt my gayness, nor do I approve of the great percentage of gays who slither around in the gym locker rooms (ahem), public rest rooms, etc..
It's not wonder we are having such a hard time getting marriage and other rights.

In Schuylkill County, I would like to start a discreet group with likeminded gay men, who are monogamous, possibly spiritual and do not engage in any form of casual sex. It would be nice to hear stories and swap ideas and, maybe, begin a counter-culture so more of us can come out to the world and know we will be respected.

Personally, I am disgusted by 99% of the gays I know of in the area.

I'm a 22 yr old gay guy in schuylkill afraid to even show and look for fellow gays in the area to hang out with. this county has a very negative outlook on us here.

If you are disguisted by most of the other gay people in the area, why is it so strange that straight people are disguisted by gay people?

I don't know about the rest of Schuylkill County, but, overall, Tamaqua seems to be a place where you can live and let live. Oh, there will always be some who bash anyone other than themselves, but several prominent people are openly guy there.

I am a gay teenager in Tamaqua, People need to realize that us gays keep to ourselves. there are the people that call us faggots and cock suckers, but there is no need for it. I have lived all my life in tamaqua, and I know of a lot of gay and lesbian people in Tamaqua. There is nothing wrong with having homosexual people live among you. Gay people should be able to have the same rights as straight people and should no be forced to hide, and worry about being gay bashed. In my opinion( which no one will listen to any way because I am only a teenager) I think that this Schuylkill County should accept people for who they are, Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, or transgendered people live how they want and learn to keep their nose out of our business. I would love to have it to where us gays have the same right as you straight people. Love is love no matter what gender it is. When homosexual people are gain the right to get married in the us and especially schuylkill county, is when I will start liking this place more.

I think they should move out of the town. or just keep quiet.

Tamaqua_kid, You shouldnt have too hide behind the door. There are, like you say many people in this town that are like you. I respect you alot for coming out and saying what you have done. If my sons or daughter would tell me they were gay, That wouldnt chance on my love you them. Keep your head up and stay strong.

Bob, this is not a game. Many gays put it in peoples' faces and that is wrong. I think "coming out" is supposed to mean a person is not going to hide it anymore, but is not going to scream and yell about it either. Why can't we all accept people based on the content of their hearts, and forget about the rest?

you asked why can't we caaept people based on the content of their hearts. I am saying others on this board don't want anybody to be content in anything out of jealosy, bigotry or whatever. Live and let live doesn't apply to some people so they will find any reason to belittle people/groups of people.
As for your second line, I thought I made it perfectly clear in other posts I don't care either way a persons sexual orientation. Which is what brought other people to tell me to come out.
