Another temporary employee of the Sweetwater non-Reporter who thinks he is an expert on world affairs. You should write your own daddy and tell him what a success you are and how you are an up and coming jounalist at an up and coming newspaper.

Yeah, why not report something. Like what is the position of each county commissioner on the electric plant to be built at Eskota. Why not interview each one and some of the people that are opposed to the project and those that support the project. Try something besides just printing news releases and what come out the day before on the tv or abilene paper. Talk to some of the ones arrested for drugs and get their side of the story. Has anyone at the reporter ever done a jailhouse interview. Do something.

Kissing up to the Sheriffs Dept is not a jailhouse interview.

I appreciate your concern for my reporting. You say it is the Non-Reporter? Well, do you realize it is a small town newspaper? Before me, there was NO controversy whatsoever. There have been over 30 pro-Tenaska articles before my handful that don't "kiss-up" to Tenaska or the county commissioners.

And please don't think that controversy was my goal either. A growing group of concerned citizens with a legitimate point became visible, and I reported on their viewpoint.

While doing my own research, I decided that I was not a fan of this "clean" coal plant either.

Perhaps I became a little too impassioned in my reporting, and since I have no formal writing experience nor a degree in journalism, I would say I am a bit inexperienced and it shows.

I am my harshest critic, and I know I have written some good stories, and I have written some I am embarassed to see in print. One thing is for sure, I am learning, and enjoy my job. That keeps me motivated.

Also, I don't know if you gentlemen are from Sweetwater, but if you live here, you would know the commissioners' opinion of the coal plant, trust me. I played devil's advocate to every important person in town, a Fortune 500 company, and the majority of the public. I wasn't afraid to speak up , and I was prepared for the repercussions.

I just wanted to offer some of my thoughts. I can take criticism all day, but if you want to just trash me, that's your prerogative. I am a guy who enjoys writing, and trying to become better at what I do. Has nothing to do with my "daddy" or the fact that I am an "expert on world affairs".

Have a nice day!

Brian, Another Suggestion; When you write an article, take a sheet of paper, draw a line top-to-bottom down the middle, then write PRO'S on one side and CON's on the other side. Then list all of the things you know, or can learn, about the subject. Then with-out(key-word with-out) bias[your opinion], use this to write the article. And always remember "There-are-two-sides-to-e very-story"!! The Public does not want your opinion, just the Story, with-out your biased opinion. Don't give up!! Just like a Lawyer, be able to see or argue both or either side. Thanks!! PS. I don't live there, but I'm in favor of the Coal-Generation Plant!!!

My post on 18 Dec was in reference to your op/ed item on President George W. Bush. You were trashing him and made reference to his "daddy" which had nothing to do with his being President or his performance.

Just read the Sunday Reportless. Seems Brians editoral page comments summed it all up. He had to take a test to see what his political leanings are, what a joke.

You people are funny. Brian Mccormick has been a nice addition to our paper. He isn't afraid to go after stories that other reporters have been, like our school problems and the Teneska plant. His columns make me laugh, sometimes because of his eagerness to make a point, and other times because he is funny, even though I don';t always agree with what he saying. He points out that he cant find a party that he fits into, and I habve to say that neither do i. Why is that something to pick on him about? Many people who like to talk about politics have no idea what they are talking about., but at least Brian makes an effort to understand the points. It doesnt matter if you agree with him or not, he challanges peopel to think differently.

I wasn't going to respond to any of this crap until I saw that someone actually defended me.

Thank you, Singledad, for at least trying to understand where I am coming from. I have thick skin though, and generally don't worry about what people think about my writing, if I did, I wouldn't get any sleep at night.=)

That being said, you freakin' guys who bash my opinion columns kill me! You say I am "biased" in my opinion columns? That's a laugh! What political columnist ISN'T biased? That's where bias is allowed for crying out loud!

So you are a conservative. Great. You can look at EVERY SINGLE issue, and the Republican party suits you just fine. I am happy for you. For me, it is more complicated because I think things through, look at examples outside the ethnocentric sphere of the US media, and I have major problems with both parties, as well as agree with both parties on some levels. So yeah, I do question the ethos of both parties, and even though I currently support the dems, I am by no means a loyal partisan. In fact, I am a registered Independent.

So, that makes me a joke? Well, my apologies again for not adapting to your neat, little ideological description of what the correct worldview is. I guess anyone who differs in opinion from you should be silenced immediately!

Then, each day you pick up that newspaper that you seem to think is so worthless, you can read nothing but stories and figures that reinforce your point of view, and you can pat yourself on the back while you write a letter to the editor that gushes over all the unbiased Hannity-esque reports and editorials.

Brian, you've let me down with this; I have tried with my best ability, knowledge, experience to help you out with my helpful hints(based on years of dealing with people, my studies of Psychology and dealing/studying People). But I guess I've failed you. You have now laid 'all' your cards face up. And instead of studying yourself for self improvements and making them, you are now wide open for criticism. And believe me, you will get it. I tried little brother. I'm Sorry you let it all build up and get to you. And as I wrote before, A writer/reporter reports the Pro's and Con's(both sides) not his or her opinion.

Thats an 'exremely' good question. I've heard of the Libertarian Party, but I guess my thinking an independant is one who refuses to votes neither Democrat or Republican, or not at all. Maybe Brian will tell you. Good comment/question.

You are doing better Brian, the Article on TST business is good, non-biased, informative, giving credit where credit is due, and to the local people's statements!! And I found out that Larry Durham of Durham Bus Company(that accepted 'all' the credit/praise) was 'not' the only one that donated to the turf in Mustang Bowl Thanks Brian.

Brian, just in case you did not read between the lines, the electric plant is coming to Nolan County. It seems they are not going to pay attention to all the knowledge you have on power generation. New York rhetoric does not play well in Texas. If you do not want to become infected by the terrible plant you best hurry home where all is healthful.
