Icare, you think the roads put in for the turbines will destroy the farmland...it splits up the field, but I have been at several sites so watch and see how much the farmer uses this road for there trucks and equipment, and I bet on a wet year like this they don't mind that road at all to be able to harvest ther crop do they.
Wow! You can't plant corn in gravel! They also have no tresspassing signs all over them.

The no trespassing signs are for IDIOTS like you not the landowner. Maybe we should get rid of all county and township roads so they can farm that area also?

I pass near the windmills by Malta on my way to and from work. On Friday 10-30 three windmills were turning. The rest aren't running yet because they haven't been wired to the grid.
I am all for conserving any natural resouces this country has. I don't drive an electric or hybrid car, but last year I purchased a used one that doubled the fuel mileage that I used to get.

Way to go Mr. Conservation:) Thats the point. If everyone would do thier part ie big cities, we wouldn't need more electric. Remember, Com Ed says we have a surplus of electric in this area. They are NOT buying the electric, only renting their lines to FPL so they can ship it out. Robbing Peter to pay Paul, take away a food source so that more electric can be consumed? Seems backwords to me. For those people who are for progress, think about it, how is it progress if you are taking away something in the process???

Windy, the point is that the farm land is erased by the roads and towers! Farmers have been doing fine without the roads forever! Ask any farmer who rents land if his rent went down after they reduced the size of the field. He gets less crops, burns more fuel and most that I've spoken to have seen their rent go up! They could care less about the use of the roads. That point is ridiculous. Again, you can't farm in gravel so please tell me how that doesn't destroy farm land? PS for everyone who wants to come gauking at the pretty windmills and dangerously drive 20 mph not paying attention to the roads, please don't. Non wind farm vehicle traffic on my road has greatly increased changing a nice quiet road to a busy dangerous one. Again, that is non wind farm vehicles.

The landowner whoever it is should have the ultimate say in what happens on his/her property.
No one else.
Landowners have been subjected to way to many petty laws imposed on people who don't own the land.

Nick, you said it well. Landowners made a decision to sell or rent THEIR land. They made a choice based on what was best for their personal situation. Some are using the money to save their farm, others to send grandkids to college, still others to buy a new car. It doesn't matter. They legally decided to sell out to a wind company, obviously not caring what their neighbors thought. In America it is legal and right. It is capitalism. If others didn't like it they should have gotten the zoning laws changed. I love our new Dekalb/Lee County windmills. Finally we can start moving toward a no fossil fuel solution.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Leo

If you look closely, you'll see a black cloud hovering over a loved one's head. They'll find the smallest excuse for losing their temper or throwing a tantrum, so tiptoe around them or try to jolly them out of their filthy mood. If the situation continues you may decide that it would be better to get the inevitable argument out of the way than to pussyfoot around them any longer.
